I do remember seeing them before on Outpost#31.com which now seems to have gone down, but yeah I do agree with you spud the theatrical version does tend to be the directors choice but some times its nice for just a few mins extra.

I wonder when the re-remake will come out.

there is like 20 dark horse comics based on 'the thing'. Kinda cheesey, though its decent enough about mcready and chiles after the end of the movie.

Excuse me Mr Monkeysmasher, sir. Would you happen to have a link to these aformentioned comic books? :o *Place drooling emoticon here*

Also, someone updated the IMDB trivia since I last looked, so for all you non-norwegians......

Quote:
The Norwegian in the beginning of the film speaks a little Norwegian (with a very strange accent). He says, "Det der er ingen bikkje! Det er en slags TING." (That is no dog. It's some sort of THING.)

If any film deserves a Director's Cut it is The Thing. The Collector's Edition above is missing some deleted scenes, so I don't think it is considered complete. The alternative ending for one, we really need to see this before we die.

I owned a copy of this movie (alternate version/ending) on video tape. Unfortunately, I no longer have it.

I bought it during a holiday in Hong Kong in the early 80's. It wasn't an official release but the video quality was equal to one.

So maybe someone here with contacts in HK can pick up a copy?

I have had the comics based after this fantastic film posted in the misc section for a couple of days, but only a couple of people have peeked, so I thought I'd cross post here...

the best cover for this movie is still this :

The other one with the ice covering the man's face just sux.

edit :

BTW, I went and check on imdb which shows this movie didn't do well in the boxoffice. Only made 13mil in US. Cost is already 10mil. But to me, this movie is a "classic" like most of you agree. As a 14 year-old movie, I still enjoy watching this movie now.

Besides the movie boxoffice, what other source of income does this movie get? Video sales? Sale to TV stations?

Hope it made the money it deserve.

Either you made a typo or your math is a bit rusty, it's not 14 years old, it's 24 years old

You can always ask for a reshare. I have this one on DVD, so I can't do it for ya, but maybe someone else will.
