Thank God for that. Canned laughter (is that right?) can be so annoying..

Yeah, I'm not saying it's bad it is not present, it just watches so differently...

no, 90% of BBC comedies are shot infront of live ordiances.
ie. Bottom, Red Dwarf, Blackadder, Fawlty Towers, etc.

The reason series 3 isn't, and why the xmas special isn't is because they are shot on location, not on soundstages for the large part. Making audiences infeasbile and therefore no laughter tracks.

Series 3 differs greatly because it more of a proper sit com rather than resembling a sketch show

Couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy.

this one is an obvious tribute to some famous horror films. See if you can spot which :)

The first episode of series 3 seems to have an encoding error around 00:21:32, am I the only one experiencing this?

EDIT: And 00:28:00. :(

By the way, Ross disappointed me. He seemed to be such a nice character. :D

You had me worried, until I got home and checked it.

hmm, i don't see anything at 28:00 or 21:32, and it loads fine in nandub (if there are errors, it reports them).

Here's scene (to the exact frame)
00:21:32

00:28:00

I made a note that it was encoded with xvid version 1 Beta 3, so make sure you are using an up2date codec. It plays fine around those areas anyway. If you don't have the codec install and update ur ffdshow. Xvid has nearly reached v1.0 proper

I'm on the newest ffdshow.

Could you please post a link to the exact version of xvid you're using?

The images don't load, lol. Lycos seems to have some problems.

Top link. To see if your not crazy, try clipping the error scene and making a short clip *without sound*, and upload to some webspace. I can check to see if it's messed up but i can confirm the one on my hard drive plays great with no errors. My little brother has watched it with commentry.

Yup, now they load ok.

I guess there IS nothing for me here, I installed your codec and the "errors" are gone, however, the picture I get is flipped both horizontally and vertically. :-o

I never liked xvid and don't know much about it. Is there any config/a setting I should change?

I think I am. You know, I have an LCD screen with a pivot, I could just turn it upside down, but then I'd have to find some player which would allow me to flip the subs too... :P

Right, it works. Thanks for your help.

Just one more thing: in the help file and on the page they show a playback filter where you can mark the "flip picture" option. How do you access this thing?

do u mean native to xvid?
You can select it from under its codec properties. Use WMP trick, and go through file>properties>advanced or whatever it is, or better yet use MPC and then just go play>filters>xvid then theres a drop down box.

If you mean vobsub, you go tray icon>second button and then click flipped video/original video. You can actually access the xvid settings too from here.

With this one they leave Royston Vasey for most the episode.
