From alot of avatars/sigs and some topic threads, seems alot of people on this board are into that style of music.
I was gonna post a comment/question about it but thought would be good experience to try a poll
I'm a HUGE horror fan but have NEVER been into this style of music!
As the two can be closely linked in theme etc, wondering what percentage are like me, and if I'm the minority
I am in now way slagging off the music, just curious to see

There is a connection, but then there isn't. Thats like saying all heavy music listeners/performers drink beer and smoke pot, its just not true. For one thing metal is AWFUL on most film soundtracks. (Anyone see Dario's Creepers?!) Progressive rock or ambience works best.
Now I like metal, metalcore, grindcore, prog-rock, jazz-metal, ambient-electroinica, classic rock, etc. I only discriminate a little Hiphop is fine but I can't stand rap, which has on little horror niche (gravediggaz, etc).

Yeah, I never made an assumption or connection really!
Just curious to see a statisical figure of proper horror fans and if there main choice of music is rock/metal.
As I concider any one voting on this board to be a serious horror fan, then would be just interesting to see!
I was making no comments or assumptions
And you didn't vote GrindCallus

Hehehehe, that picture is great
i listened to metal since the mid 80's but im also open for all other kinds of music, only thing i can't stand is r&b music or popular top 40 music. there can be some good music there but most you can hear/see it was only made to make fast money and thats my problem with it.
Same with movies, its not so much genre orientated, if a movie is good it doens't matter if its a comedy or a horror or whatever genre. over the years i found that the people who listen to metal are mostly more open minded to other music. Only the people who listen to top 40 music are smallminded and talk about every other music style as being bad and worthless. The last years i also listened more and more to electro and even classic and lots of soundtrack (sphere) music, as long as music is "real" and you're in the mood for something it's ok.
Its not so rare though that you find on a board like this poeple who like horror AND metal, since both of them have often a "dark" theme, whereas other music styles often more lightly n their lyrics and usually don't sing or talk about satan...

Funny, but I found him looks like my poodle
Anyway, I always love horror movies and HM music!
Im-Ho-Tep (Pharoah's Curse)
"Time is the bond of mortal life Isis with the scroll of life Raised her love Osiris from the dead Live can transcend the mortal coil With this script, the high priest of The Pharaoh commits his sacrilege Death is but a threshold To another life, you will arrive With this power You shall live again, there is no end You'll live again...
Love was the curse upon my soul For it I would risk salvation And utilize the scroll to save this one Time is the sentence for my sin Three thousand years my angry soul's Been trapped inside this tomb of my condemn.
Death is but a threshold To another life, I will arrive With this power I shall live again, there is no end. I'll live again
Dawn shines a light on pain untold Scarred from the millennia The heart that beats inside my chest is cold Rise, I'm rising from these sands of time By the scarab's power I am given strength With hate in hand, this misery I drink
Death is but a threshold To another life, I will arrive And with this power I shall live again, there is no end This pain won't end"
By Iced MOTHERFUCKIN' Earth!
So, you see, HM always find a similiar theme with horror

i've been into metal since '88. I discovered Horror only in 94/95 in high school... better late than never
my mother told me a few years ago that when I was a kid, thrillers and horrors scared the shit out of me... Guess that what didn't kill me, made me stronger!
