[THE STORY]
October 1918. Giorgino Volli, a young physician, comes back from the front and looks for the group of orphans he left before the war. He soon discovers they all have horribly died in the swamps of a small village while under the care of demented Doctor Degrace (Jean Pierre Aumont) and his strange, autistic daughter Catherine (Mylene Farmer).
[NOTES ABOUT THE FILM]
This film remains completely unreleased on DVD or even VHS in any country, because of the bankrupt it caused its producers (with one of the most extravagant budget of European cinema, Giorgino was a huge flop, due to its extremely dark nature and its extended length (the film is three hours long). Fans have been pleading for a DVD release of this cult film for years. In vain. It is a slow, haunting, shocking, morbid and poetic film, but definitely not for everyone. If you enjoy films that actually take the time to tell a sad, dark and surreal story, this is for you. The film marked the debut of French star Mylene Farmer on the big screen (she gives a brilliant performance as Catherine, a strange child woman). Also starring newcomer Jeff Dahlgren, Jean Pierre Aumont (Truffaut's Day For Night), Frances Barber (Prick Up Your Ears), Joss Ackland (Lethal Weapon 2), Louise Fletcher (Brainstorm). Giorgino is directed by acclaimed music-video director Laurent Boutonnat.
[NOTES ABOUT THE DIVX RELEASE]
Given the extreme rarity of this film, and considering it will never be commercially released or even aired on TV, this is the best and only way to discover a film considered by many as a masterpiece. Giorgino was only aired on private network Canal Plus once in 1995, due to contractual obligations. I used my S-VHS original recording for this high quality rip. I know lots of people out there are looking for this film, so I'm putting all files as High Priority release. Keep me informed about your downloads. The files ARE staying on my drive permanently, so you will get them in full, it's just a question of time. Enjoy this amazing flick!

Thanks Doc
I'll edit the original post with the link to the 3rd part on Monday (I'm still working on the encoding of this one).
Next releases planned :
* PEAU D'ANE (Donkey Skin) by Jacques Demy with Catherine Deneuve (France / 1972) (rip from S-VHS)
* DINNER WITH THE VAMPIRE (Lamberto Bava, Italy, 1987) (rip from Japanese DVD)
* NOSFERATU - Unreleased 131mn. version (Wernherr Herzog / Klaus Kinski / Isabelle Adjani)
Anyone interested in these 3?

(Giorgino) Please read the notes above, it's all there. Quote: | Anyway, what's new in this version? was it originally cut? |
(Nosferatu) That's a working print of Nosferatu that runs 131mn. The usual versions (released on Anchor Bay DVDs) last either 107 or 119mn. The extra scebes included involve a long sequence in the count's castle, and a nightmare scene involving rats on a beach. Quote: | Would like this one (english subs?) |
(Nosferatu) No subs unfortunately. Some actors speak English, others speak German.

Eh, I don't know how to tell you this, but I just noticed the files are "a little bit" oversized. I suppose it is not possible to reencode them?

hmm didnt notice this before now... the size is a bit to big to fit on a cd.... 739 and 841 is a bit to big max size is 710mb i think in overburn burn on 700mb cd's... i must agree here with polityk you should reencode them to make them fit... if its going to be 4 cds then go for 4cds...

Well, I didn't want to go below a 1500 bitrate, so yes, the files are too large, but just get some blank 800 and 900mb CDs.... rather easy to find on the internet. Or burn the files on DVDR if you have the equipment.

Well. I'm going to reencode them for myself, but I'm afraid with my bandwidth it would take ages to spread all 3. That's why it would be better if someone else did it and posted the links here. It would be even better if you did it, @Woodstock, this way everyone would just download it once. It is always better to fit on 700mb cd than to stick to bitrates. There is little difference between 700mb and 800mb file in terms of quality, but 700mb files are much more comfortable for everyone to handle (not all burners support >700 cds etc).

OK you're right, I will re-encode into 4 files < 700mb (since the film is 3 hrs long). I've edited the original post and erased the links. I'll add the four links to the definitive files next week-end once they're ready
180 min into four 700mb files : any suggestion regarding the bitrate & so on...?

Gknot has an ace and very accurate bitrate calculator built in:
http://gknot.doom9.org
Are you re-encoding from an uncompressed avi? If so you can load the avi into it and do many compressability tests and what not.
