Well it is the second feature so you could just leave after Planet Terror.

Aren't the fake trailers real segments for the sequel movie?

Nope, they were made just for show, but there's been a lot of talk about turning Machete into a real movie and possibly Thanksgiving also.

Has anyone else seen Planet Terror yet?

I did yesterday and I think this is one of the coolest movies I have ever seen in a theater!

i saw the double-feature right when it came out in the US. it was pretty killer. i don't know what's up with people saying they'd skip Deathproof, though. it was EASILY better than Planet Terror, which was good but a very easy zombie/action movie homage, whereas tarrantino's installment was much more ballsy and inventive than a simple tribute.

I think it depends on where you stand: I just LOVE zombie flicks and Planet Terror was all what I ever wanted in a movie. Of course, Death Proof was also a very good movie, especially if you compare it to what appears in cinemas these days. I also think it was quite well made as a movie and I enjoyed it for sure, but it didn't blow me away like Planet Terror did.

Another thing is I think it really matters if you see Death Proof in the double-feature or not. One of the things I didn't like about it was its length: a mere two hours, which was too long in my opinion. In the double-feature, it is not that long, so maybe my judgment would have been more positive towards that version of Death Proof.

wierd... 90min VS 113min according to IMDB. i can't imagine what the hell is in those 23 minutes. i feel like that could totally kill the movie, if it's just more tarrantino-esque dialogue. he used it to brilliant effect to get us to know characters quickly before they got all killed up, but any more and it'd just be painfully excessive. the dialogue was already a bit of a chore to sit through, as i wasn't sure where he was going with it and it was B-grade banter (appropriate for a B-grade bent tribute movie like DP), but it was all worth it once it became clear what tarrantino was up to.

does anyone know exactly what's extended about the extended cut?

It is, sadly. Maybe there are some more shots of the car chase, but I don't think so. You say it could kill the movie, well, maybe not kill it... but this is the reason why I like Planet Terror better.

Death proof was really a shitty movie, totally disappointing...it may be very uncool to like tarantino these days but i still like his old movies, this one was way over the edge and not in a good way. reason: NOTHING happens. and come on that car chase wasn't THAT cool? :S

Stiill haven't seen Planet Terror and i dont even want to see it in the cinema, i just wait for a nice rip to show up.

maybe some of you can tell me what makes death proof that good>? because i sure missed it?????

You'd like Planet Terror better than, completely different pace :)

How many old shitty horror 'classics' have you watched? Not just the legacy ones, but the random strange horror flick. I bet lots. This seemed to me just like that. Except the production and acting/script is better. IMO

Totally agree. The main problems with Death Proof is this; if you think the dialogue was just waffle, the women irritating, then you probably won't make it to the car chase an hour into the movie. I will say Kurt Russell was good but that is all. I just can't understand why people are praising this movie so highly. Final question; what does Death Proof have to do with this so-called Grindhouse anyway?

It's inspired by movies such as Dragstrip Girl, Runaway Daughters and Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!

These movies were shown in drive-in cinemas in the US in the fifties. The last scene in Death Proof is a very clear reference to Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!

It still doesn't hold up the movie for me. I liked PT way better.
