i dont think prayeR means to be a jerk, i think he;s just kidding around or a little insane. or just an asshole, or a whole ass of insanity. he cracks me up sometimes.

ah, once my # of movies hit 4000 cds, finding 1 cd is almost impossible without a map of some sort(especially when i dont label them when writing a bunch at once), or a well provisioned team of shirpas. i had to dig out 'the sentinal' a few weeks ago and lost 2 guys when a spindle collumn collapsed.

i actually prefer the avi's to vcd/svcds, i burn them to cd's a regualar mpeg files, i just have a bunch of stuff like simpsons episodes that fit like 3 to a cd, so 6 cds to 1 dvd(18or so episodes in vcd, or 12-14 for svcd) would seriously cut down my cd sprawls.
putting 5 or so movies on one cd in avi would be more along the lines of what i would do, i didnt see anything posted before i asked about it besides playing in a dvdplayer or xbox.
i had built a hardware avi player with a 100 cd changer, and was going to switch it to a dvd reader if it was possible to do with my old dvddrive pieces, and instead of 100 movies, it would hold 600, so i would never have to get off of my lazy ass to change discs.until the blueray discs.....

yep, i have too much free time, thick glasses, and a soldering iron.

I smell a horder. Like the rest of us!

Plenty of time to leave the mule to download, but no time to watch em :?

From the sounds of this thread we're all avi freaks and no-one backs up dvd's are converts to (S)vcd!

you know, i talked to you before pcarcade, like a year ago. i said 10000 vhs tapes i got, about 2000 ripped already, and you said '2000 ripped!?bloody hell!!, what about porn?' and i said,'the internet already has a lot of porn, its harder not to find porn.'

sound familiar?

i dont bother watching all of them, after sitting thru demonkeeper, camp blood, rodentz, and zombie chronicals, i decided i would rather put a bullet in my brain then sit thru some of this crap. i'm pretty sure 'the 13th child' gave me a brain tumor.

if i put them onto dvdr, i can finally do what i always wanted to do with my cds, and that is to wing 'em at old people's heads.

I think so, was that around the same time I threw out my VHS and moved soley to dvd and avi etc?

I know what you mean about the quality issue too ;) some of Satan's releases have been quite an eyeopener ;) (sorry Satan)

i think it was only twice i icq'd you, mostly asking about the types of hats people in england/britain wear, and launching cats with a snowshovel. yes, i remember everything, unless it is in the slightest bit useful or important.
i probably still have your list o' movies from a year ago. im pretty sure you wanted 'the burning' and i sent it to the wrong guy.

i just was in store and they say ther r out of Teac's
but today at 17pm they will have 'em
strange.. on their site - 129 euro.. in store - 150 but in box + Pinacle studio and so on...
mg, i like bulk versions...

well, i am still trying to find at least 1 reason why should i buy dvd burner.
i found 1 - it's kewl. :|
well, money is ALWAYS the question. but 10 euro does not matter a lot...

just i still dunno wtf is '+' and '-'
i know that '+' r cheaper and speed of burning is higher. but might be problems with compitability.
well, i will buy it tomorrow.

:matrix: DOOOOOHHHHHH !!!

Bugger.

Suppose it's not really worth the upgrade, for double the storage. Suppose it'll be handy to copy retail dvd's but apart from that I can't see justifying buying another drive just to save burning 2 discs at a time

dvd9 - 9 GIG
dvd5 - 9 GIG (If ya use 2 discs  )

But knowing me as soon as they become financially possible, the sucker that I am I'll buy one !!!

Just to add to the converting/menus thing. I use a guide HERE for converting avi to DVD. That guide will give you a DVD compliant MPEG-2 file.

You can fit two movies on a DVD-R with pretty good quality. Then I use DVD-Lab to author (put menus on etc.) and export a set of ISO/VOB files.

I stay away from Ulead DVDWorkshop as it gave me terrible audio synch problems during the authoring (and has for thousands of others too). So far DVDLab has been faultless.

If you want images for the menu screens, go to http://www.joblo.com/moviewallpapers.htm as a desktop works great as a menu background.

Always happy to help if you guys start knocking out pikey DVD's

OK, looks like a decent guide.

I know alot of people ask me for some films I download (Undead at the moment  ) but with it being an avi, the only think you can do is copy to VHS but the results aren't great.

So hopefully I can perfect the art of ripping (BACK) to dvd and give em dvd's of the films I get!

Fingers Crossed!!!

VCD/SVCD? That's what I used to convert to before I got a DVD writer.

Yeah, dabbled in (s)vcd.

But with every1 having DVD's now might as well burn to dvd.

Wouldn't mind undead on dvd, till it gets official release!

I'm not gonna go mad and convert every request to dvd
