my kad network is behind a firewall though and i'm trying to figure out how to unblock it
will this cause my D/L to work better,because there is no progress being made as is

Try port forwarding or set up a virtual server on your modem. I did the latter, it works fine now. Read up on how to do so in the eMule Help section, to which I posted you a link before.
