Directed by: David DeCoteau

Image

Plot Outline: Young Christopher has just enrolled at the prestigious Carmichael Bible College, managed by the somewhat unusual Mrs. Bouvier. After some unexplained disappearances, Christopher does some exploring and discovers that Mrs. Bouvier and the Reverend Carmichael have some very unwholesome intentions for the young men of their school. Will Christopher graduate with his body and soul intact?

Note: source was very grainy/noisy, heavy degraining made it into this. It’s still not supersharp, but it looks better than the DVD itself.

A hilarious review of this is to be read on badmovies.org: http://www.badmovies.org/movies/voodooacad/

Degrain is a denoiser. It won't sharpend the image, it will blur it instead.

Degrain doesnt blur it, it removes the grain. Evidence: viewtopic.php?p=178223#p178223

Sharpening a grainy source often enhances the grain but adding some sharpening after degraining is often a good idea although sometimes the source is really soft in the first place & youre limited to how much you can improve it without making it look terrible.

Well, it was heavily grained and soft at the same time. I didn't experiment much, but this looks way better than the VOBs.

What I wanted to say is: if you apply denoisers they also remove some non-noise details from your input, not only the noise itself. Thence the image gets a bit blurry. Depends how aggressive the filter is though. :argue:
