Its another one of those mass outbreaks of something, a viral and unknown force is causing outbreaks of hysteria and violence... that has been a number of these types of films when suddenly a generation drops dead, etc. A kind of cross between Invasion of the body snatchers style trust no one and Ringu style modern viral supernatural. Well this is one of them, a rogue signal is broadcast across telephones, radio and tv causing all those that observe it too intermitly to snap and go psychotic. There's a high level of gore; largely blugeoning and beating. I was duped by this at first I had downloaded the dvdr and recalled the name from a fangoria; it slyly presents you with a low budget snuff/torture film that is the kind of film that has very little appeal to me. This is luckily just a trick and a prelude to the first 'transmission'. After this brief scene, there's clearly things a miss, and its not long before full on violence is in effect. There's a great musical device that blacks this out to the audience at first but the violence ramps up and up. The second segment changes pace and style, its high on the humour and the gore and really does work well. I don't want to get further into giving away plot traits, but its clearly well thought out and above average in terms of acting and humour. You can tell a lot of work went into this, I was on one hand suprised to see three director's credits next to the movie, however it all makes sense and its clearly The editing is smart, precise and effective. There's segments that overlap, with titleboards with a transmission over the top. They once again trick you, and you can't trust what you believe to have happened. This ties into later scenes where the character's are clearly insane and reality is only their reality. Works well. There's stylish cuts, stutters and a well polished edit that helps sway you in and out of insanity. There's some really good stand out moments, near the end with brief slip into insanity got me... should have seen it, but it was covered well. Recommended viewing, you might like it! |

Sounds great, might get the blu-ray next week if it is region-free.

I'd be inclined to agree, its on the very good side of the spectrum as my mini-review eluded to.... imdb is crap as always, there's haters and comparisons to cloverfield that make no sense. Ignore that stuff and give it a whirl

this is surprisingly (to me) really good, it's a horror movie done in a way that you can't really talk very bad about it, it's a nice indie movie done with style, good taste, well-scripted lines, acting, soundtrack...it's like a very good alternative rock band mood, when you listen to it and it stands out, make most of other new stuff look a little less pretty... this is anything but brainless, tasteless and other -less horror, really pleasant surprise. ps: my english is very broken today, but sure... great flick!

Due to the reviews in this thread i'm click clicking! Sounds well made and enjoyable.
I must admit to being a bit of a Psychotronic kinda film lover, I love the older horror films they just don't make them like that anymore! So for me it's pleasing to find out good horror movies of the 21st century.

I was about to encode The Signal, but cannot find the version from mromariz... not on SBiG or eMule search?
Is it still available or should I make a new from untouched PAL DVD?
