| Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight is a comic book series published by Dark Horse Comics. The series serves as a canonical continuation of the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and follows the events of that show's final televised season. It is produced by Joss Whedon, who wrote the first arc, "The Long Way Home". The first issue was released on March 14, 2007. The series was originally supposed to consist of about 25 issues, but series editor Scott Allie stated that they were already "up to about 50, could go a little higher", before it was finally decided that the series would have a 40-issue run. At present, some plans for a spin-off limited series are in discussion where side-stories too far outside of Season Eight's narrative would be played out. The success of the series prompted IDW Publishing and Joss Whedon to announce a concurring continuation of the Angel television series, entitled Angel: After the Fall. |
The Long Way Home - written by Joss Whedon:
Since the destruction of the Hellmouth, the Slayers - newly legion - have gotten organized and are kicking some serious undead butt. But not everything's fun and firearms, as an old enemy reappears and Dawn experiences some serious growing pains...

The second arc of Season Eight starts here. Brian K. Vaughan takes over writing duties and dives headlong into what Faith is up to - infiltration, assassination, and nonstop Cleveland. The fugitive Slayer is given the assignment that could change her life... if Giles's specialized training doesn't make her want to end it first.

Vampires are the hottest thing around - forget hipsters; being a bloodsucking fiend is where's it's at! Slayers must take the good fight underground if they're to avoid any bad press from the general public.

Tales of the Vampires - written by Becky Cloonan:
This will be the first “Tales” feature since the Season 8 comic began. Although this story doesn't deal with any Buffy regulars, it does take place within the current Buffy Universe, which Joss Whedon has constructed perfectly. We tell a story about a high school boy from a wintery New England town involved in a deadly love triangle. There's action, love, and lots of blood!

Retreat - written by Jane Espenson:
Team Buffy has become all about sneaky in a world where Slayers are now feared and hated, and vampires would rank at the top of a popularity poll. All hands are on deck as Scotland's brand-newest Slayer headquarters comes under attack; but, when things get more than a little fried, Buffy has to punt. There are yaks.

Willow - written by Joss Whedon:
Willow Rosenberg has worn many faces - a shy computer geek, a loyal friend, a passionate lover, a fierce Wiccan, and a dark Willow. Now in Season Eight of the critically acclaimed, award-winning Buffy comics series, Willow's powers have grown exponentially. She can fly. Teleport. And may or may not be immortal. All we know is that Willow went on a walkabout following the demise of Sunnydale, and she met a very sultry, extremely powerful serpent lady who seems to be the key to unraveling the mysteries of what Willow is, and will become.

Turbulence - written by Joss Whedon:
After Willow unearths giant Tibetan goddesses to help in the fight against Twilight and his disposable soldiers, the Slayers are forced to retreat when the goddesses go AWOL and attack indiscriminately. Without powers the Slayers are unable to keep up the fight against missile fire, grenade launchers, and tanks. It would seem that all is lost, and Buffy -- all alone -- must make her last stand on a battlefield covered in the bodies of friends and foes.

Faster than a speeding -- you know. More powerful than a -- yeah, one of those. Able to leap tall... castles in a single bound. Still working on that x-ray-vision thing. In the aftermath of battle with Twilight's army, Buffy has developed a host of new powers, but when will the other shoe drop, and will it be a cute shoe, or an ugly one? Still reeling from the losses of war, Willow goes looking for missing allies and discovers a horrifying truth about several of the Slayer army's recent ordeals.

** Update **
| "The Chain" is an issue of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight series of comic books based upon the television series of the same name, and is written by creator Joss Whedon.
The plot of "The Chain" focuses on one of the Slayers used by Buffy Summers as a decoy to fool her enemies.[1] The comic is a stand-alone issue, and features no appearances from Buffy herself, although season seven regulars Andrew Wells, Rupert Giles, Vi, and Rona play small roles. The story is told through parallel narratives, showing the Slayer's calling, assignment as a Buffy decoy, and death. |

** Update **
| "No Future For You" focuses on Faith Lehane, as she is given "the assignment that could change her life . . . if Giles's specialized training doesn't make her want to end it first." The story is initially set in Cleveland, but according to Scott Allie in #2, will later be set in England. Faith will have to track down and kill a rogue Slayer named Lady Genevieve Savidge, before Savidge can bring about the Apocalypse.
A preview of the first six pages shows that Robin Wood also appears in this issue. Like Andrew, he seems to be in charge of a squad of Slayers.
An interview with the writer: Brian K. Vaughan confirmed that apart from Faith and Giles, Buffy, Robin, Willow, and Xander all appear in this arc at some point or another. |

I always found the character of Faith more interesting then Buffy. Eliza Dushku is also sexier than Gellar imho.

Yea. There was a plan to make a Faith spin off series.... but she turned it down to make that crap "Tru Calling" tv show.. bad move imo. She is stil lthe most interesting character though. She ends up like a wetworks black op type person for the slayer army. Her and Giles go on these real boarder-line evil assasination missions and stuff that Buff and Xander no nothign about, as they would nvr agree to it. Still they notice the "problems" just disapearing.
