Which is your favorite?

Personally, I like how you can play VCD/SVCD on almost any standalone player, as opposed to DivX where you can only watch on computer/certain players.

Although it's easier finding better releases on DivX than SVCD.

Wish that I had a dvd burner.
It'd be my favorite also.

But that wasn't the question. For those of us who are unfortunate, what do you like better?

Divx or Xvid for me...I have seen some pretty bad svcd's as of late with terrible cropping and such.I don't normally go after the svcd thing but my wife does for the newer movies...I tend to be a bit more patient and get a true widescreen out of it.Only thing to say good about svcd is that it will play in a standalone...but seems that issue is going to be taken care of with the players that will play divx format as well...also,like Purple,I got everything streamed out to the Tv's anyway so it's just like having a standalone pretty much

i go with avi formats, and have been using xvid a lot over the last few months. ive never liked svcds or vcds, except if i was going over to someone who didnt have a computer.
i have never watched a movie from my computer monitor, ive always used a tv output card. just looking at sample clips i cut out and play on this monitor, i dont know how people can stand to watch on a monitor. though i do understand when people complain about how shit bad quality a movie is, and i dont notice any problems.

DivX/Xvid all the way!
Reasons?
1. VCD/SVCD just doesn't impress me quality-wise..
2. Always stream from computer to TV, so no need for a format that works on regular DVD-players.
3. DVDR just isn't cost-effective for me at the moment.
4. If I really want a DVD I just buy it.
5. 4.7GB files? I think that speaks for it self. (At least with my connection-speed...

Divx/Xvid. I hate low quality.

Rent and copy is easier for me a lot of the time, but torrents make them easy to get :)

Wasn't a topic like this posted before? anyways, DVD-r is my preferred format, but in regards to downloading Xvid > divx5 > divx3 > divx4 > CVD > xVCD > VCD > .rm

I have the setup for AC3, but I hate it when it's included in an ancient movie that's only 90mins. Then it's just not needed. 2cd xvid AC3 for movies like Matrix Reloaded, for stuff like Texas Chainsaw, troma flick, or what have you 1cd Xvid MP3 vbr is plenty :)

A nice 700MB Divx/XviD encode of a film that fits on a CD, will always please

But the "scene" still seems to favor (S)VCD for screeners though don't they!

We have to wait for some-one to re-encode the (S)VCD to avi on SR!

I love dvdr more than you now :P

Of cource dvdr is the best, but d0c would you rather have an avi or a VCD of a film? if dvdr wasn't around!

Unless you invented dvdr and kept it to yourself while we all had VHS/VCD. But were forced into releasing the technology by hollywood.

You hollywood whore :P
