This terrifying adaptation of Stephen King's bestselling horror novel was directed by shock maestro Brian De Palma for maximum, no-holds-barred effect. Sissy Spacek stars as Carrie White, the beleaguered daughter of a religious kook (Piper Laurie) and a social outcast tormented by her cruel, insensitive classmates. When her rage turns into telekinetic powers, however, school's out in every sense of the word. De Palma's horrific climax in a school gym lingers forever in the memory, though the film is also built upon Spacek's remarkable performance and Piper Laurie's outlandishly creepy one. John Travolta has a small part as a thug, De Palma's future wife, Nancy Allen, is his girlfriend, and Amy Irving makes her screen debut as one of the girls giving Carrie a hard time.

Found this on my HD. Never really enjoyed the movie. It's good, but just not for my taste. Guess, there's lot's of different rips available of this movie, but I have this one shared atm. Definetely worth to check out the movie if you haven't ever seen it :)

WHAT!?!?! Never liked this movie?

One question, did you watch it when it was released or sometime later (ie. have only ever seen the rip?)? You have to note it invented a lot of the stuff in the movie also (the whole hand-ending scare was invented in this film, it might seem old now, but at the time this apparantly scared people sh*tless  ), and the soft-porn rose-tinted camera opening I thought was a brilliant way to show Carrie's innocence.

Most of all though, the rage sequence is reason enough to see the film.

I think this will be the best version of this film so i'll add it to the list to put on the frontpage (should be easy to write a review because i have it on DVD and you've posted the rip specs)

:)

eh, I liked it, but never really enjoyed it. It was really well done and I don't dismiss it's impact on the genre. But there was just something that annoyed me from truly enjoying this movie. I think it was the acting (actors/actresses) that just didn't click for me... but then again, I'm huge fan of Corman/Hammer etc. other 'cheesy' 60-70 movies, so what do I know about acting ;)

I saw it first time in early nineties (91-92?) from crappy VHS tape and recently watched this rip. and yes, there's some very well done scenes in the movie.
