I liked the preview too. Is there a lot of large scale zombie chaos scenes in the movie?

As good as Romero's movies were, he never had the budget to really show society breaking down and civilization crumbling on anything other than a small scale.

Seems they've gone for the gore too, it's rated 18 in the UK in an age when most horrors receive a 15. Roll on March 26th!

Hi guys
I am a old fan of the romero movies but please i only have one question:

What does happen with the rigor-mortis on this new movie? As i know these freaking zombies are really fast and letal on their attacks to the livings. Even though these corpses are getting decayed with the time their moves are getting better.

please let me know

thanks

i've just come back from watching it and must say that i totally enjoyed the movie :beerchug: and like i monster and i guess most of us will think it will never replace the original but this is a first class zombie movie in it's own right 8)

Also liked the few comedy moments in there ie "Burt Reynolds and Jay Leno" watch it and you'll see  also showing beforehand was the trailer for the upcoming Shaun of the dead which i think is released on 9th April.....this also looks to be a very worthwhile movie to go see,i for one will be booking tickets for that one aswell....now all thats left to do is to download DOTD 2004 in every form then wait for the DVD release and all future directors cuts to add to the ever increasing DVD collection

if you haven't seen it yet, GO SEE IT :P

I decided to do something about the growing number of DotD remake threads:
http://forum.dead-donkey.com/viewtopic.php?t=3346&
http://forum.dead-donkey.com/viewtopic.php?t=3359
http://forum.dead-donkey.com/viewtopic.php?t=3312

Therefore, all the other threads have been locked and this is the official DotD thread (as the longest one).

It was just messy. :)

Sorry, I meant to post it in this thread... You see? There's just too many of them. :wacky:
I should have locked them then, but I was just leaving and hence the mistake. After my post people were posting everywhere anyway.

Ditto. I wasn't impressed by the first 8 mins but i am more than willing to give it a go. It was very different to the great original (Romero!) dawn of the dead.

I just can't understand why they even called it dawn of the dead, apart from piggy-back off of sales of the 5 star original, and insult the fans and director. In ten years time there will be a few mistaken identity purchases, I don't know why the MPAA are allowed to get away with it! Was it that hard to come up with a new name?

ten years? Allready people look at me in bevilderment when I ask them what their hopes are for this REMAKE. One told me 'It's only you who watch these movies nobody else has ever heard of!' Bah, I wanted to slap that guy. I told him it was the most famous and well liked zombie movie ever, and he asked when it was made upon when I'd told him he said 'MAN THAT'S ANCIENT! I don't watch those old movies made before '95!!' He also refuses to watch anything that doesn't have english language and prefer dubbed Jackie Chan films. oh yeah, and he tells me he knows alot aboot movies and love all bigbudget hollywood releases no-questions-asked!

Same with TCM remake. One silly chick even thought the scenes with the police walking through the house were REAL! it was the scariest thing she'd ever seen. 'the original? what you mean, they said it really happened in 76 so the original can't be from 74' bah... She refused to belive me when I told her it was only loosley based on the completley different ed gein story. 'That's not what the police officer said!!!' :matrix: :matrix: :matrix:

We were discussing similar situations in the other thread. I'm afraid with DotD the story will be no different than with the Ringu, Riget and TCM. Remember the silly girls arguing on IMDB that Kingdom was a real Hospital in Maine? I hate people who don't even know what they're watching but can't be convinced. It's like everyone is only interested what's in movies that were made after 2002. They have to be still in the cinemas, there has to be lots of posters everywhere and the movie itself has to be loud and colourful to draw those people's attention. I'm laso under the impression that the more mediocre and the less memorable the movie is the better.

I don't know why, but I feel it may be somehow connected with problems with concentration many people are experiencing nowadays. They simply prefer movies on which you don't have to concentrate, you can start and stop watching them anytime. Unfortunately, you tend to forget such movies, so perhaps if in 2007 somebode makes another remake of DotD people will again take it for the original (and only)version...

 i think everybody knows idiots like that. its the same with anything, movies or music, hardly anyone in the general public know when something is a remake, it sucks really, and i agree with what you said about a lot of people these days not giving older films a chance, probably because films back then might not have had the best effects so story and other things were the main issues, but now all the effects sluts dont seem to care about anything exceptthe movie with the best effects, hence why utter bollocks like "The Hulk" get to the top spot in theatres.

i myself can quite easily enjoy a movie or game even if it doesnt have the best effects/graphics aslong as the story/gameplay etc is decent.

Hey Max, you keep talking about the old days, you starting to sounds as old as me LOL

Seriously tho, I see exactly where you are coming from mate. For me a story is most important, it doesn't even have to be that good, just as long as it captures my imagination.

i feel with you here i also want to slap this one, there is one thing to say john_doe u aint one of them regular joe's out there. so you will meet mainstream ppl that are brainwashed by the system and you will get ppl talking like that... nothing much to do about it, cant talk scence to them anyway... just let them live in their own world.... we outsiders know better and live a diffrent better life by knowing things other ppl dont know, thats just a fact...
