Looking closely at the images, I think the system settings for this can't be too high for pc owners. The impressiveness of the images comes from the detailed textures and lighting (basically the atmosphere). The characters looks like they have a high polygon count (although looks like it has a crappy aa filter on), but the environments don't look that rich.

Good news for those that want to play this and don't have a top of the range machine.

Doom is STILL the best fps game ever... when I got my Xbox modded the forst two games I had were Halo and the doom port (doom 1, 2, TNT and Pultonium) and doom kicked ass... it still dose.. These high tech ones just miss somthing that doom had...

I so hope that doom 3 will have the same thing....

I even used doom as a my major project at film school. Did a short of "Knee Deep in the dead".... (kinda a silly dream that if I ever made it I would pitch a feature movie... lol)

I had all the facets going, Deathmatch, Single Player and for Co op when the guy went crazy and shoots his mate before he dies he caries him around on his back.... then the guy bleeds to death anmd it isthe lead with a corpse on his back that he chats aways to.

ahh the old days.

:o Whuat?

Baby this is as good as XBOX graphics get......

Though you do raise an interesting point :

If it does go split screen , how much of these graphics will remain ?

Xbox's, and every console for that matter, max res (when not in HDTV mode) is 640x480.

The graphics just appear better on a TV cos... well they are pretty shit displays. Small Res, blur the picture, etc. That's why watching xvids on TV appear less sharp and all blurry.

Tvs are improving though, so eventually they will either adapt or show up like the inside of an ass.

Still, because its a dedicated games machine, companies are able to get stuff out of it without taking a bigger hit on system resources as their is with the PC, and why you hear people winging that their pc isn't good enough to play XYZ.

i did try out a xbox at a gameshop and i nearly did go blind of the low hz, when i tryed a xbox with colin3, you could easly see the picture vibrating and when the screeen turned white it was a nightmare from another dimension... not in my wildes 80's bbs days with black and green radioctive pc monitors have i seen worse. i know there is 100hz tv's but this was defintly not one of them.. hopefully soon all tv's will be 100hz and only then will we a good picture... and maybe then i will buy a xbox... yes you heard me right i said maybe...

To be honest, I think that they look great on most TVs, same goes for cube and PS2 most of the time.

It's just they always look a damn sight better on a good pc and monitor setup :)

That PC just isn't gonna cut it for doom3 Doc, even far cry is gonna bring it to it's knees (you MIGHT get away with running it on low/ very low)

low my ass... farcry is running smooth on 1024x768 with normal settings here no "bring it to it's knees" or problem at all... and by the way when doom3 runs on a 700mhz, gf2 xbox i will run it like a dream...
