Please make sure "cleanup filenames" is unchecked in preferences under files, or at least remove all the tags and add tags like ".Sharereactor." etc if they annoy you.

I can't think of any "feature" more disrepectful to the releasers on the network than that, its disgusting that its checked by default in some mods.

Helps make sure you have the correct filenames and all, so will come in handy if you ever need a reshare.

May not seem like a big thing to do, but its highly annoying for the people that release the files you get. :)

I know I am commiting sacrilege, but usually I do cleanup the filenames before I burn them to DVD. Simply I like them short, without spaces or other special chars. I don't really see the problem. The original filename is still there. Just because I add another one it does not suddenly vanish. Ok, I would not announce a file with another than the original name on a board, but adding an anonymously source with a neutral name should not hurt. The only thing I really hate and would never do is to add another tag to a filename. I don't even tag files with my name when I did not rip them myself, but concatenated two files in a one disk release.

I think total renaming is far worse than adding another tag myself, the whole reason people tag is so people can recognise there shares, etc.

But those people see only their own filenames. At least it was the case with my files. I always saw the name I gave the file. More by chance I discovered that some idiot added its tag to it. What I mean, if I release a file as TheHornyVampire.avi I don't care at all when someone renames it The_Horny_Vampire.avi, The.Horny.Vampire.avi, TheH.Vampire_(2007).avi, or theVampire(horny).2007.eng.subs.avi

Well I don't know the hash of the 1000 or so movies I got, when I reshare I go by filename. It's in their own interest to keep the original else I probably won't even notice its the same version they are after. I am referring to tags, but I mean:
ed2k: Monster.Squad.1987.[Spud,VHS-rip,dead-donkey.com].avi  [702.77 Mb] [Stats]

becomes
Code:
ed2k: Monster.Squad.1987.avi  [702.77 Mb] [Stats]

I'm most likely not going to notice without double checking hashes. Its been released a few times. Now if it becomes

I'm not bothered, I can still see I have that file. If it becomes:

Code:

I'm not too bothered, ditto changes such as . --> " " or _, or 1987 --> (1987). I'd prefer if they kept it the same, but slight changes to conform to somekind of standard they got I'm not too fussy.

Code:
ed2k: Monster.Squad.1987.avi  [702.77 Mb] [Stats]

They can count out a reshare unless they are willing to chance, that on that occasion I find my cd, hash my movie, and check the hashes match. Most of the time I just don't realise that its the same file I have.

That's why I think the removal of the names is daft, retagging I really couldn't care about unless, like stated above, they remove the details.

That is why I can not emphasises turning of this feature any more strongly.
