Ok, this is something only for people who are really really bored.

Man I hate spam. I just got another one of those 'Hi I'll give you an insane amount of money.. just give me your acount nr. and personal data so that I can empty it first...' mails. It says to be seant via the eXtreme Movie Manager forum, so the guy probably just ripped my email from there somewhere and sent to everybody.
Anyway, I thought it might be a little entertaining to aswer and just see where it went. I've now gotten a second reply which I again answered. I'll post the entire 'conversation' here.

First Mail from the Guy:

------------------

My dearest,

Good a thing to write you. I have a proposal for you-this however is not mandatory nor will I in any manner compel you to honour against your will.

I am Kesse.W.Jameson,22years old and the only son of my late parents Mr.and Mrs.Kesse. My father was a highly reputable busnness magnet-(a cocoa merchant)who operated in the capital of Ivory coast during his days.
It is sad to say that he passed away mysteriously in France during one of his business trips abroad year 12th.Febuary 2000.Though his sudden death was linked or rather suspected to have been masterminded by an uncle of his who travelled with him at that time. But God knows the truth!

My mother died when I was just 4 years old,and since then my father took me so special. Before his death on Febuary 12 2000 he called the secretary who accompanied him to the hospital and told him that he has the sum of two million, seven hundred thousand United State Dollars.(USD$2.700,000) left in fixed deposit account in one of the leading banks in Africa.
He further told him that he deposited the money in my name, and finally issued a written instruction to his lawyer whom he said is in possession of all the necessary but legal documents to this fund and the bank.

I am just 22 years old and a university undergraduate and really don't know what to do.Now I want an account overseas where I can transfer this funds. This is because I have suffered a lot of set backs as a result of incessant political crisis here in Ivory coast. The death of my father actually brought sorrow to my life.
Sir,I am in a sincere desire of your humble assistance in this regards.Your suggestions and ideas will be highly regarded.
Now permit me to ask these few questions:-

1. Can you honestly help me as your son?

2. Can I completely trust you?

3. What percentage of the total amount in question will be good for you after the money is in your account?

Please,Consider this and get back to me as soon as possible.

Thank you so much.

My sincere regards,

Kesse.W.Jameson.

Poor guy huh? My answer:

--------------

Hey man.

Sure I'll help you, and I'm a trustwothy guy. I guess half would be a good
amount.
=)

--------------

He's taken the bate. His next mail:

------------

Dearest John Doe,

I am happy to receive your urgent response. I just
want you to know that confidence and trust begins from
one day. Eventhough i don't know you in person, i
beleive that when we start this communication we'll
introduce ourselves and even by going into the
business,we will also need an agreement to back up our
transaction for the trust.

I will like to tell you about myself for sake of
confidence.I am 22yrs of age,my mother 41yrs but
actually my mother died in motor accident earier when
i was 4yrs .Due to this frustration and situation i
decided to contact you.I want to tell you now why i
need you if you don't mind.

My father came to lodged this money with a prime bank
here in Ivory Coast,June 1998, Since my father is late
like i told you in the first letter, and as the only
son, I have all the documents of this deposit given to
me by my father,i can send them to you to know what
i'm talking about. if i may tell you that since i lost
my father and mother life has not been easy for me
regards to the situations of the country as at
present. I'm staying with a man of God who has been a
friend to my father and a ministry i have attended
right from when my father was still alive but things
are not easy for him too because he has many mouths to
feed so i feel it's the right time for me to start
looking for away to use rightly my inheritance.

I have talks with the bank manager last week he told
me that i have to look for a lawyer who will help me
to secure some vital documents like the change of
beneficiarry from the ministry of justice and finance
before the fund can be finally lodged into any foreign
nominated account because the fund has been in a
suspense account for some years now and it has to be
activated, i need you to provide an account where this
fund will be lodged into and be a guardian over this
fund.Later you arrange for me to come over to your
country to further my education. You can also decide
to come down for us to do it together, by opening an
account and pay-in the funds and transfer to your
country. Like i said,i'm ready to part with 20% of
this money to you for the participation after this
money get's to you.You will invest this money there
and we go into partnership when i arrive.

Please kindly send to me your personal datas like your
telephone and fax numbers for easier communcations and
i will by tommorow go to the attorney to get his
current and office contacts which i will be sending to
you as soon as possible.

God bless and protect you and your household, hoping
to hear from you soonest

Best regards,

KESSE.

------------

Wow. Now this is starting to sound really good, rite? My reply again:

----------------

Hmm.. 20% is a little low in my opinion. How about 40%?

----------------

And that's it for now. Wonder how long he'll bother before giving up.

Hey, this is understandable. This button is usually used only once directly after a new pc is assembled.

You know replying to spam mail or clicking "unsubscribe" tells the spammer that your e-mail address is valid. This means that if the spammer has probably added your e-mail to a mailing list or two now

What you should have done when you got the first spam message is to show all headers (I don't know what e-mail client you use if any, in Eudora you double click the message then press the header button). Anyway you will see an origin ip in the top line. Use a visual route program to trace the ip, find the technician reponsible under the Tech-D line and send him a simple e-mail, forwarding the message and x-ing out your details. Before the forward add a simple line:

I have been receiving spam from the following address (paste address in bold). This SPAM is unsoliciated and unwanted, please take the appropriate action to ensure the user under your domain does not continue to send out these message
<forwarded message>

:)

Here's a link fotr a group of people that bait these scammer as far as possible, then post the results.

http://www.scamorama.com/

Thier ultimate goal is to get the scammers to send them something.

One guy managed to talk them into sending him an ounce of gold!
