Not easily. .idx and .sub files are graphics. A program which converts them to .srt must include an ocr engine.

use SubResync which should allready be installed on your computer, through vobsub.

Which is why idx/sub is a superior format too. it retains 100% quality, accuracy and placement. SRT is just guessing at what the images are and why the format sometimes contains many errors.

but still srt takes up just 1% of an idx & sub, which is why there can be big sub databases with free downloads, instead of having to trasfer a 9 mb file through emule, which basically only contains a few lines of text anyway!

100% quality? Then I'd like to know why I have seen so many idx/subs, which looked outright ugly.

Cause some of them are made from the text files for pirated dvds :-o
