:twisted: PCA just made himself immortal by nominating a world class turd in his list :twisted:

Can anyone at least agree with on that one ?
Shouldn't be too tough to find out which one I'm talking about :mrgreen:

Some (IMO) are missing:

80's ---> The Beyond :cheerleader:

90's ---> Nightbreed, Dark City, Bride Of ReAnimator

00's ---> Underworld :mrgreen: (yes I know...shoot me!)

Anyone who wants to include any movie is okay with me. And seasideisme is my friend, so go easy on her.. She didn't want to post her list, but I forced her to. I told her that everyone would add her to friends and her downloads would go faster if she posted on the forum. So, go ahead and make me a prophet.

aliens is way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way more horror genre oriented.

Alien is a horror, Alien 3 is a horror. The franchise started as a b-movie franchise and even though aliens was more action, its still a basic alien b-movie plot.

Dark City isn't anything even remotely horror beyond imagery. I mean you can press the arguement that its a horror movie, but its going too far if you ask me.

lol,

anyway, seems i forgot invasion of the body snatchers for the 70s. That film is excellent, a lot better than a lot mentioned in this thread. :)

heh.... thought this thread would die soon, but it just keeps on going :lol: So might just as well hook up.

Might come up with my own list sooner or later, but for now I'm just wondering why I can't see Angel Heart (87) anywhere? Or maybe it's not supposed to be a horror movie? :wink: Or Pumpkinhead (88 )? Or I Spit On Your Grave (78?) (hell, that's some bloody sick stuff) Or Dellamorte DellAmore (93 or 4 I think)? Or The Changeling (79?)? And some more. Or maybe I just missed them somewhere. And not too much of Asian shit here while I'd say some are definately more qualified than some of the stuff mentioned :wacky:

And well, Spud, though technically you are right (I mean according to various 'sources' or 'definitions') about Alien(s)/3, I'd never call any of them a horror (well, the 4th one was a horror, but because of completely different reasons). Neither I'd call Predator a horror. Sorry, but that shit's all sci-fi with different twists :mrgreen: (a bloody good sci-fi though, specially the first one)

Technically? oh come on mr simon I wouldn't categorise alien or alien3 any other way personally, no other genre description more accurately descibes it, scifi is a weak genre description since it merely hints at technology rather than content. Its the exact same as Frankenstein, its a horror not a scifi. Alien is a horror, one of the best horror movies ever made in fact and is a careless omission from 70s top ten horrors if its not there imo. It deserves nothing less than top 5 placement, argueably even if your listing all genres. I hear people say it isn't horror but its impossible to describe another primary genre without missing an accurate desctiption of the film, how can Alien not be a horror movie? Just because it happens to be in space is a weak arguement to call it scifi over horror. I'm always a tad confused when people try to argue its not a horror movie, its so overwhelming a genre movie that the scifi is almost inconsequencial in comparison, its a vehicle for a B-movie horror film (or terror film if your Ridley Scott :roll: ). Kind of misses the point categorising it as a scifi for me... just because of facist necessity to categorise spaceships over story, plot and content that is.

What makes Aliens debateable is that instead of trying to scare the audience, James Cameron did the original and right move of making the franchise his own, and went for entertainment through action, but tried to keep it true to the original horror movie. The reason you can argue its horror is atmosphere, (mostly to do with H.R. Gigers input), inplausability of the contents, tone (This isn't friggin' starship troopers, its dark and its meant to be 'scarey') and the legacy of Alien being such a brilliant and effective horror movie before it. But its inaccurate in my view since this is just the effects of the first, real horror film rubbing off on it.

lol, yeah... the only way Alien4 can be a horror is in describing the audience mortified once they realise what a fuckup it is. Its a weak scifi/action film. A piss poor one at that. The director f*cked up bad, and Josh Wheadons script isn't just to blame... :(

Wow... avp that sucks so much too, most action oriented. Alien: Resurrection is then the next, this is just a stupid and ineffective action movie. What Aliens holds over it is art, design and tone as well as the fact it isn't shite, alien4 retains none of this to allow any such categorisation of horror. Aliens is the only decent action movie in the franchise, and its an exceptional one at that. Whilst alien3 has pacing its not really an action movie, because it has a darker tone and effect. Plus its a carbon copy of Alien with a bit of pace thrown in, obviously Aliens effect on the franchise.

I would not really rate any of those other movies that highly except for Dellamorte Dellamore... i completely forgot about that. Cemetry man is a very good film.

Is it scary ? Yes? (or was it when you first saw it as a child ?)
and has it gore ? Yes ?

Than it's horror. No need to drag in Plato. :P
