In the year 2047 a group of astronauts are sent to investigate and salvage the long lost starship "Event Horizon". The ship disappeared mysteriously 7 years before on its maiden voyage and with its return comes even more mystery as the crew of the "Lewis and Clark" discover the real truth behind its disappearance and something even more terrifying.

Worked fine on a standalone (pioneer 383).
If possible help spread. Feel free to post it anywhere.

Thanx Spud. I've seen that one on theater. Imperfect, but interesting. A movie director, a [Fr]iend of mine, showed me some scenes, image by image, full of subliminal sado maso entries. Nice to have the oportunity to study that by my own...

Thanks a lot, I remember not thinking much of this when I first saw it, but since seeing 'Possesion" and rewatching "In the mouth of Madness' I am willing to give this NZ starring vehicle another go ;)

The IMDB mentions this in the trivia..

Director Paul W.S. Anderson was forced to cut over 20 minutes of violent scenes so the film could reach the R-rating.

Does anyone know of an uncut version?

Also looking forward to the 'subliminal sado maso entries', however according to wikipedia...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subliminal_message

... the full effectiveness of this cinematic gimmick will not come into effect until the advent of smellivision.....

Cheers Spud

Paul W.S. Anderson claims there's a longer uncut version of Alien vs Predator and the reason that film was f*cking terrible was that fox censored him. This seems to be untrue.
Paul W.S. Anderson also claims there's a longer uncut version of Resident Evil, and the reason that film was shit was that fox censored him. This also seems to be untrue.

Notice a consistant web of claims here?

He seems to claim there's longer uncut versions of his movies and that all the fault for his movies genreally being crap is someone elses, namely the studio that forced him to edit. I think he's just having a difficult time making a decent film, and tends to always revert back to "I was censored", there's "a longer uncut extreme version". With AvP you can even read the original script and he pitched it as a PG13 all along, but then said he was censored. Seems more than a tad iffy.

Here's a little rantingi found from the first hits in google on the matter of his uncut claims:
Quote:
Regarding the "studio interference" to make AvP PG-13. This is also a lie. I have a friend whose trailer company did the AvP campaign. So I was able to "see" most of an uncut version as they were pulling scenes from it waaay back in January. All I saw was a little bit more screentime for the Chestburster sequence (which made it look even more fake), and more useless exposition between the characters. The fight scenes of the two titular creatures were a bit longer but the coverage of the action is still horrible. The PG-13 rating was planned from the beginning. It was part of Anderson's pitch that by setting it in present day to keep the budget (relatively) low and shooting for a PG-13 he could guarantee the suits at Fox a big opening (unfortunately it worked). Remember how we were going to get a Director's Cut of Resident Evil and Event Horizon on DVD? If you don't believe me just wait for the DVD and see how little meat there is. Anderson's an untalented hack and a constant liar. I'm tired of him using other people's properties to try and bolster his career and then trying to cover up his own incompetence by blaming the studios. I don't care how "nice" the guy is.

nuff said.

So now we've covered that he's lied 3 times, stating exactly the same thing for 3 different movies, there is actually a longer version of Event Horizon out on dvd, its just doesn't add much depth or anything. Its one of those "director's cuts for the sake of a new dvd" things.

Turns out his longer "unrated" version of avp was almost identical to the theatrical (both of which have been released). He;s been doing a Event Horizon special edition "with added crap so we can boost to full rrp" for a while.

Here's what the guy said about the director's cut
Quote:
"I just did a commentary for Event Horizon, because we're releasing a Special Edition of that next year with a lot of deleted scenes," Anderson told Now Playing Magazine in an exclusive interview. "And I went in and did a truly awful commentary for it that I'm going to redo! Because it had been so long since I'd seen the movie, I just started watching the film and enjoying it, and didn;t remember to say anything. And after like an hour and a half I;d said about 10 minutes of stuff."

"Paramount has sold so many DVDs of it that they've offered to do the fully-fledged 'You can reintegrate the scenes and we'll pay for it to be remixed and everything' version. The problem has been actually finding all of the materials because it's been quite a long time, so we're still at the point where we're trying to decide if it makes sense to do a director's cut or whether [we should just include] a lot of deleted material with a separate commentary explaining why it was taken out and where the scenes would have gone. Or we may do a branching version of the DVD so you can see where those scenes may have sat."

well ironically, we're bitching in the thread for his only decent movie, after all that's said and the lies about uncuts, I still like this movie. Hits the spot, don't know why. I think its mostly down to the fact he didn't write it!

Or maybe its Sam Neill? He is satan... did you know that? :googley:

I just can't find it anywhere. I think its exclusive to brazil (errr... why? :?) and i imagine its very heavy.

Got round to watching Event Horizon: Director's Cut, Sunshine got me doing that. They are very similar, okay Event Horizon's script is extremely crude and its all very hammy but sunshine is second fiddle imo, this movie is too horror to sunshines gibber :)

Gore is spliced into flashes. I can't place the entire "20mins" that's different though, but i've not seen the normal version for 5 years, probably more.
