you are right, glam rock is bands like slade, the sweet, t-rex, steve harley & cockney rebel etc, anyone who thinks GnR are glam obviously has about as much knowledge about the music industry as a festering boil on a walrus' backside , i've really gone off metal, all it seems to be these days is trying to recreate the sound of a pneumatic drill trying to work its way through concrete, if i wanted to hear that crap i would just listen to my neighbour do yet more D.I.Y, he never fucking stops, except when he has endless bbq's and parties with all his rowdy chav mates, its even worse on sundays, 8:30 hes up and about outside with his tools banging away
i think i slightly went off on a tangent then ... end of rant

In the 80's it was called glam metal....So I was just shortening the title not saying bands like slade or the like are anything like gnr.So you can rest your testicles easy cause that is what I meant.
AS far as any scene goes....I am an American....in europe there is a scene...here you are an outcast. All the church burnings and murders are just drunken ego rages. My catagorisation is probably alot different than anyone here's as far as music....Most people consider Deicide as Death Metal..I consider them black...Sing about evil then you are black...sing about Death you are Death...pretty simple but somewhere down the road somebody decided to change things up..No idea why but it used to be that simple when BM and DM came out.Singing about mountains and wolves and vampires are fine with me...obviously since i am into horror....But most music I listen to has a certain realism about it...Altar for one sings about life...not wolves.GISM and SOB are bands from Japan from the early 80's...More trash punk then DM or BM....Europe this stuff is really big.....in the states it is still very much underground.I don't need to be schooled on any music though...I have been a musician since I was old enough to hold a violin bow.Nearing 40 now...I pretty much have seen it all and have no expectations or suprises for me....I listen to what I like as I am sure most people with a brain do as well.
by the way......what was the topic again?

I remember when metal was just metal
I would much rather listen to metal though then any rap, hiphop, dance, house, trance shit, but i would rather listen to them then Sinead O'Connor - nothing compares 2 u, i fucking HATE that song its the worst song in bloody existence, why cant it be erased and forgotten about, why include it on every single 80s, power ballads, new wave, etc etc album all the time i just really really hate that song and because of that sinead o connor should be sent to mercury as payback for ruining the entire history of earth
anyway back on topic... saw a video trailer for dead rising and its tempting me to start to think about concidering maybe getting an xbox360

Agreed and i would like to add that i think some guys were having issues with their sexuality also. This runs rampant in extreme metal despite how anti-homosexual some want you to think it is. I always laugh about how some of the hair bands looked like girls but probably got laid a hell of alot more than some of these guantlet clad fire breathing ninnies. I always hated these fuckin glam metal pretty boys but on the same token they always had the better parties. Hanging out with my extreme metal friends was always a fucking drag because they were always depressed or pissed off. After awhile i wanted to beat the hell out of them. Its like damn, i love satan and all but lets at least be happy about it. Some of the "Skater Fags" i knew were more interesting. Quote: | My catagorisation is probably alot different than anyone here's as far as music....Most people consider Deicide as Death Metal..I consider them black...Sing about evil then you are black...sing about Death you are Death...pretty simple but somewhere down the road somebody decided to change things up..No idea why but it used to be that simple when BM and DM came out. |
Thats funny because even Deicide made the mistake of calling themselves Death Metal as far back as the local florida Amon days. Morbid Angel on the other hand were quite different. I remember an interview with Trey Azagthoth where he said they were a mix of Black and Death. I guess you were lucky because ever since the dawn of some of these bands i remember alot of people being confused about what to call them. I based my judgement of genre more on sound than lyrical content. Take early Darkthrone and Mayhem for example. The more Black they considered themselves the more Black they sounded. However neither band really started out with the intention of being Black Metal. Growls and barks became shrieks and witching sounding vocals and yes, the lyrics changed also. Not to mention these bands were not giving a shit about the "spirit" of black metal because back then it wasnt all about this "true" and "untrue" bullshit. It was Venom and Mercyful Fate. Hell, Fenriz(Darkthrone) even admitted to sacrificing a large part of production just to have a more demo-esque Black Metal appeal. Bands like Von had shitty sounding production in the early days but they sure as hell werent doing it on purpose. And then you have comeplete fakes like Nargaroth. I do very much like Nagaroth though. Quote: | Altar for one sings about life...not wolves. |
Were talking about the "Youth against Christ" Altar right? Hmm... Quote: | I don't need to be schooled on any music though |
Well, hopefully you werent under the impression that anybody here was doing that. This is all a mere discussion of opinion. An off-topic one at that. Yeah, we got a metal thread located in the Misc. section...it is stickied so it won't ever die.Perfect place to discuss this stuff...Been rather stagnant there recently...Everyone has there own take on things...wasn't trying to come off defensive or anything. But I am pretty passionate about my music...sama as Horror movies and this site for that matter

Ah yeah, i think we are both passionate about music and horror obviously. I was at CM's for a long time but now its gone . However i always liked this site alot and can slowly see myself becoming quite active here.
As for the topic of Horror Games does anyone remember Sanitarium? Kind of shitty when compared to todays standards but i had fun playing it.
Blood: Blood was another game i like liked alot. Lots of sick humor, gore, and killing. Unfortunately the series kind of "jumped the shark" when part 2 came out.
Postal: The original Postal, while not really a horror game i guess was pretty sick for its time. There werent many games back then where you could just go on a rampage through small towns/lvls ruthlessly killing innocent people. The newer releases of postal still have that same twisted appeal but for some reason i dont enjoy them as much as the original.
Carmageddon: A racing and gore game. I loved just running people over for hours.
One game i must say im looking forward to is Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. The developer has been pushing this godamn game back for what feels like 4 years. Its supposed to come out finally this fall. I'll believe it when i see it.
http://www.callofcthulhu.com/ incase anyone wants to check it out. Some of the screens look downright fucking brutal. Only thing i dont like about this game is i dont think its going to feel alot like Lovecraft type horror. Lovecrafts stories werent about "shooting em up". Some say they are doing a nice job of incorperating that Lovecraftian feel so i could be wrong and i hope i am.

i never played the original postal until i had already played postal 2 so i prefer postal 2, i used ot run round pissing on the college slut girls til they puked haha, then beat them up with a spade and cut theyre head off, the 4th day when u get kidnapped by the rednecks and made theyre gimp then have to escape all the way through town while still wearing the gimp costume was mega hilarious

I loved Carmageddon...Great soundtrack by fear factory on that one...Just drive and kill...I would always take out my opponents before the race was up...kind of liek Mutant league football where you could kill the other team before the game was even over.

Carmageddon is an awesome game, carmageddon 2 was quite good although i liked the original better. Carmageddon 3 was an absolute mess.
The fourth one has been announced, it was due for release this year, but it slipped back ages ago... given that Paul Anderson's remake of TDR2000 is out next year its a good bet we'll see it then.

at least its not uwe boll, and i'm guessing he won't take the comic approach. Lets see if its an original remake, or just the same tired hollywood template of a remake.

thats true, it wouldnt be so bad about it being a remake if all these crap remakes werent swallowed up by the gullible mass public who just like films with shiney effects, bloody idiots are taking over the world
