I've always used cdrwin to burn audio CDs and I've never had a problem with it and my old Samsung CD writer. That writer has gone now and I'm left with a Pioneer DVR 109.

I cannot for the life of me get cdrwin to recognize the pioneer as a recording device though, despite it being listed as a compatible drive http://www.goldenhawk.com. I've tried versions from 3.9D to the most recent 4.0A. Also used different ASPI drivers, including the Adaptec one. But it simply will not be recognized.

I tried cdrwin on my laptop, which has a Ricoh DVD recorder, and I can't get that to work either. Googling has brought up some suggestions e.g. different ASPI drivers, and copying the Nero WNASPI32.DLL into the cdrwin folder and system32 folder - to no avail.

Any suggestions appreciated - as I've found Nero is pants for audio CDs. The only program that seems to work OK so far barring cdrwin is Musicmatch. But cdrwin has always been my preference and I'd love to get it to work.

TIA

use RecordNow, its better than both of the mentioned softwares.

Infact its still one of the best burning engines out there, just lacks the odd option but its not failed for audio cds yet on me.

Thanks spud, I tried RecordNow and seems pretty good though I'd still like to get cdrwin working.

Try updating the firmware on you're Pioneer 109 to 1.50 . It should be available on Pioneer's site. It may have been listed as a compatible drive only after the upgrade.

Thanks zanydeath. Tried that, but still didn't work. Ho hum. Looks like spuds recommendation of RecordNow will be the best option.

I have RecordNow 7.0. It's a pretty good option.
