I bought this DVD years ago, and watched it once in an ex-roommates PS2. Watched a poor avi of the film a couple times since then. Went to watch it 5 days ago, and got 'disc error' or 'disc not recognized' in 5 DVD players; XBOX, PS2, an Avayon DXP1000, and both my DVD drives. I wrote an email to Synapse, but I don't think they'll get back to me. I searched the net looking to see if this production of the disc was ever reported to have problems, no avail. So, I tried DVD decryptor and DVD Shrink, neither will recognize it. PowerDVD and MPC won't even report a disc. What the fuck!!? It's an awesome movie, a shame I can't enjoy it.

Wild Zero is great, far better than the average zombie flick.
The rip I have is not that great, same as this one.
Have it on dvd myself, could make a decent rip of it, if it's wanted?

You maybe experiencing DVD rot. Have you checked the DVD for scratches or physical defects?

If there's no scratches, that are the prime suspect btw, look for a kind of rot or tiny holes in the underside datalayers

@ vae victis: It is a great zombie movie! I also have that rip, its not very good. What I would REALLY love would be an NTSC DVDshrink, but I don't want to ask a lot. I'll probably buy anew one, to get the extras.

@spud: I think you are right. There are no scratches or scuffs, or even dust/smudges. It seems pristine, but very close inspection reveals, the outer edge (about 4-5mm from the edge) shows what is almost scuff-like, but underneath (breath covers it). That must be the rot. (Some kind of zombie special feature maybe!) No sign of tiny holes, though.

I probably buy a new one someday. Maybe Synapse will get to me. Not sure if that counts as defective. :matrix:

Thanks for the help guys.

To be honest, I find the quality of the dvd too low to release it as a dvd itself.

But I've no problem ripping it + the extra's if you want it.

you could always buy it from the same shop and get a refund with the dud copy.

Well the movie plays fine in friend's uber-player (some expensive Sony one) :o . But it freezes up for a second at the very end UNLESS I play it with the 'interactive drinking game', then it plays fine. I did try on 3 other computers, none of which read it as a disc. And the synapse bastards seem to ignore me  . A really good 2CD/ac3 rip would be SO VERY appreciated.
@spud: I ordered it directly from synapse's website (still got the confirmation email too). :matrix:
