presumably so, thats what error 13 means.

And no, reading different guides, dashes usually go in c without a modchip too. That's where all these autoinstallers put it too. You've just moved it all to E:\ drive and then changed the references to point there. Doesn't make much difference in the end, its just odd.

All the guides around the place always have the structure:
C = system and dashes
E = applications

but in your installer package its:
c = system and applications
E = dashes

This package would have screwed it up anyway, i was just taking the piss. I think the xboxdash.xbe is the wrong filesize :matrix:

I didn't move anything anywhere.

ALL I did was change the dash to THC so as people would find it harder to screw things up (it would seem not hard enough though) :lol:

For people who want to know how much softmodding costs:

Mechassault:
?2.70 + ?1.50 = ?4.20
Xbox Memory Card with free breakaway cable:
?1.70 + ?2.80 = ?4.50

= ?8.70 to my door

USB wire is about ?1 to ?2, so lets say ?10 total.

That allows for modding unlimited machines :) oh and you actually have a game and a memory card, although no one really wants them :lol: The xbox pad on the pc is nice added value too though, especially since the remote control works :)

drivers are on the link i posted above, this one:
http://www.redcl0ud.com/xbcd.html

Click the link to DVD remote control and it has the drivers for it. Report back, i've never actually tried just heard of it.

You might want to try a program called JoyToKey, lets you map key and mouse functions to a pad. Very handy for emulation and games like GTA with shit pad support. Its a very unknown program, but imo if you use a pad its a killer app:

oh and the keyboard is:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/produ ... ENTID=7321

ignore the price, i sure as hell didn't pay what it says there. I think it was ?80, its version 2.0, not the newer one with the laser mouse.

Very handy since i know if i got emails around the house by taking the media pad with me.... normally if i'm sat out side. Bluetooth hub is handy too since as i said in another thread, the belkin wireless card i got sucks and never works.

One of my little gadgets. I got a few... remember this one:
http://forum.dead-donkey.com/viewtopic. ... t=nostromo
(that's awesome, a must for any series pc gamer)

I also have a VR glove :)

edit: yes, sorry forgot and it took a while to type this post since i had to grab the links :)
edit2: amazing, the nostromo is made by belkin, i'd never noticed. Well then i can speak for the company positively on that one product, its without a doubt the best gaming peripheral available ;)

I found a MUCH quiter fan for those of you interested in shutting the xbox up a bit :
http://www.quietpc.com/uk/casefans.php#60-70

The 70mm is rated at just 20dB
I'll order one at some point and let you know

What's a good place to get a replacement drive for Xbox? And what would the approximate price be? Will replacing a Thompson drive with a Philips or Samsung be a problem?
Preferably within Europe.

replacing a thompson with a philips or samsung will bring you much joy, it's a piece of cake, take one out then put new one in.
Look on ebay ~?10 for thompson, ?20 for Philips or ?30+ for samsung

Is that always the case?
Problem is, there aren't many auctions within Europe, and shipping from the Us would be costly. UK too by the way...

PCA, on the first lines of your guide it says SC has to be PAL version, whereas not for MA or AUF. Why is this and what would happen with an NTSC version of SC? Failing that is there an NTSC exploit for SC.

Cheers mate.

In all honesty I can't remember :oops:

Although I've just checked and it looks like I was wrong, ALL SC versions are exploitable, Try it and let me know, if it works I'll change the guide

Be good to know, don't worry about damage to the xbox, it'll either work or it won't even load the save

BTW

I've just bought one of the 70mm accoustifans I posted about above to try and quieten the xbox down, I'll let you all know if it works :)
