Hi,
I need some kind of html lines which can help me to keep track of people assistance and absence.

I thought I could do this with radio buttons, but any other idea is welcomed.


the "X" will ilustrate here below a radio button.

The above should only be viewable for the users. The only one to update, click on the radio buttons, it would be the admin. Otherwise people can cheat.



I hope I can get some good ideas.

I think it's better to have some kind of a graphic/text instead of a form there, and display the form only for the admins, but I might be getting your idea wrong. Care to explain better. What are those dates?

TBH from your description I would agree with Member, but then again I am no expert.

if you want to implement this with all of the stuff alligned, then its very simply a matter of creating a table, with each option in a new < td >. If your crap at html, then i suggest downloading dreamweaver mx and then just doing it all via Insert>Form, then Insert>Form>Form Object>Check box.

HTML is a doddle though, making it look pretty, if its for advertising etc. you might want to look at images and the like. If its for business, etc., then don't bother. A table with 2 rows and however many columns will surfice.

However, i think you just want a submission form right? with checkboxes allowing you to check a box if they have been absent on a date, then to hit submit and have this data emailed to somewhere?

This is very basic html, i suggest just googling for html forms or something and look for a newbie how-to guide.

Although i don't think you mean a radio button, but a check box, they are quite different. The radio button only allows one of several otions, like a selector, a checkbox allows 0 or more to be checked.

- You are completely correct, it is checkboxes what I need and not radio buttons.
- No I do not want a form like gui interface nor mail forwarding system. The only thing I need it is something I can have Names, dates and the sum of dates people assisted classes. This just to have a clue about how many times each student come to classes. The admin, me in this case, I am the only one editing this, it will be put in a thread and closed, so that it is only viewable and nothing else.

This is just to keep track and so that people see how much they are away versus other students.

One more thing Spud. Is it possible in your forum here to ignore people. TaKyon has been bothering me for long time now, and for some reason the other moderators have been covering his butt and letting him annoy to close my threads later. I think this should change. I can not really tell you why he feels the urge to talk to me, I have told him from a very polite approach to the point of insulting his mother, but nothing helps. He promised the other admins not to bother and here he is again. An ignore button would be very nice to have.

Well a form will be useless unless you have some posting functionality. Since you didn't mention any database, and you didn't mention any CGI or PHP, I assumed your only wanting a static html page, therefore for submission purposes the only valid command you can associate it with is mail, as in the submission is mailed to your mailbox for entry into the database manually.

if you want a database and dynamic submission form, with results of history also displayed, then that is entirely different, you need to use CGI/PHP to generate the html, get the POST data and then use an SQL statement to insert the information into the database. You then have a seperate view of this information using PHP/CGI and a SELECT statement.

I've used forms extensively for submitting data on the frontpage, but you need some method of recording/sending the data, and then retreiving it.

Now that you say you want to submit and display attendance information presumably on the same page, you need to learn some PHP:

When you said html i thought you meant, actual html, then your limited to html functionality which is static (like mailing you the results of a submission). Your wanting php or a similar scripting language

No there's no ignore option, but you can simply ignore anyone that offends anyway by ignoring their posts.

I need a static page. I do know scripting, php, mysql, java, javascript and so on. The only thing I have never really gone into depth is html. But anyways, checkboxes are not good either, I guess I am forced to do my own app with javascript which is the easiest and fastest.
