I got one from Wanadoo before I switched to HomeCall...

I apparently downloaded 300GB one month, but seeing as I only have an 80GB hard drive and barely downloaded anything then, I think they were scamming me... Unless all the Spam popups they had on thier website ate my bandwidth.

I download enough a month to fill my HDD completely, prolly half over again. The point is not much of it stays for more than a few days.

Upload I have no idea about, as a rule my system will be uploading for prolly 18 hours a day at an average of around 40K.

problem with router based monitoring is that its all via a lan card, so your network usage screws it up. DUmeter doesn't have a range to exclude or the ability to monitor from the router's perspective.

Ideally the router should have monitoring software in it.

Looks like you may end up being owned by walmart or someone :wacky:

No sooner have NTL and Telewest finally agreed to merge, than it seems someone else might be interested in buying the enlarged UK cableco.

So reports the WSJ, which says a group of private-equity firms are mulling an $11bn bid for the pair.

It goes on to say that nothing is certain and an offer may or may not be forthcoming.

On Monday, NTL announced - finally - that it is to buy Telewest in a deal that values the UK's second largest cableco at around $6bn.

Once the deal is completed, the pair - whose cable networks do not overlap - will be able to provide TV, phone and broadband to more than half of UK homes.

The combined group will have almost five million residential punters and is set to be the largest provider of domestic broadband services in the UK with 2.5m subscribers. ?

It was in the letter they sent me (despite the fact I'd already cancelled their BB) but it's mentioned here : http://www.cableforum.co.uk/article/200 ... band-users

just made this comment at NTL's cableforum

"So at last after months of bollocks about the cap and upping me from 750k to 1.5mb when I didnt ask for it,theyre now going back 512k uncapped, well i'm happy with it,I currently pay ?24.99 for 1.5mb i'd sooner lose a touch of speed (I never noticed much of an improvement anyway) and pay ?7 less and not worry what I use.

cheers NTL for the months of wasted time (and probably 1000s of people leaving over this issue) for bringing things right back to how we started.I'll still get more than what the 10mb people are going too for my ?17.99.Shame its overpriced when put next to other companys speed per cost, but at least now I dont have to have my TV/Phone/Net packages over 2-3 different companys."

screw it not ideal but better than having ntl's foot up my arse if theyre gonna kick me or not,I had a feeling with paying for the full tv/phone/net package they wouldnt kick me for fear of losing accounts.
