I am looking for a movie about a lake with some mechanical/dinosaur/monster which had fog lights for eyes. I THINK it was made in the 1980s, but I am not positive.

The opening scene has a guy in the lake, on a boat, with a fishing line tied to his finger. It gets a tug and he tries pulling on it, but it pulls him in the water.

When the "mechanical creature" finally came out of the water, it was nighttime. I believe it was at the end of the movie.

The main character was a boy, around 13-14 years old.

I dont think this movie is Rated R, because I saw it in school, but then again, it COULD be rated R!

Please let me know if you have any idea what I am talking about.

Only thing that comes to mind for the movie is "Return to Mayberry".
