I'm getting a problem where my ADSL line seems to be affected by the phone attatched via microfilter on the same line, when the phone is in use the ADSL becomes very unreliable, also I can hear noise on the phone line.
I'm an ADSL n00b, but from what I gather, this could be down to a faulty microfilter, is that correct? If not what else could the problem be, I read somewhere that putting 2 filters inline can cure the ills of some DECT phones, but that sounds odd to me, anyone got any ideas?

I had problems with noise on the phone but the ADSL line was always reliable, turned out to be a crap phone and replacing it fixed the problem. We have a few phones and the noise was on all of them.

The phone should be OK, it's a fairly top end Pansonic DECT jobby

can be crap filter, crap line or crap phone.
You've got some crap somewhere in the system... you might want to have them check your line. BTs responsibility, but i don't know if you need to go through your isp or not for it.
I got a proper filtered line, ie. no adapters and shit. Can't really hear any noise.
BTW. If you've got millions of adapters, remove them and just plug your one phone and your adsl in.

No, just the modem, filter and phone connected to the master socket.
I think I'll try a new filter (as it's the cheapest option), but my suspicions lie with the phone

Describe how everything is connected. Like what is connected to what and how.

Yeah, I've pretty much got nothing connected except the phone and router :
Master socket with a filter connected, attached to the filter is a Panasonic DECT phone and a Belkin 7633 ADSL router, connected to that are : 2xPC's (wired) 2xXbox (1 wired, 1 wireless), and occasionally another wireless PC and a PDA (wirelessly)

just a thought, your not *gasp* using bulldog for your phone service are you?
You were on cable, but i assume you have a phone line through BT and not another company?
microfilters are crappy splitters, the quality of the line split determines the noise quite heavily. As for the phone, I don't see it really, do you have any old phones lying around... or maybe borrow a neighbours for a second if your on good terms (I don't know anyone that's not actually neighbourly... except Takyon who seems to be at war with his )

Ah right, no real problems with the quality of their voice lines, well apart from given the advancements in other areas, its still a bit baffling phone call quality sucks donkey balls.

With Bulldog?
I'm farily convinced it's the Microfilter TBH, I can hear the data transfer on the phone (in the background) so I assume it's not doing a great job

Looks like the Panasonic is the problem, LOTS of ADSL issues with them, people recommentd using 2 filters inline in order to solve it and if that doesn't work change phones

PC_Arcade, I've got a Panasonic DECT phone coming off the filter at the master LJU - I've not had problems with it or my ADSL connection. Maybe it's only the newer models that cause problems, as mines over a year old now.

Mines old too, I'll try another filter and see what happens
I think it MIGHT depend on the filter too, some seem to be better than others at "dealing" with Panasonic Phones
