I hv restored a clean C (d/l from gmail), Xbox is now only contains the files and folders that just d/l.
when boot up , it went staright to xbox dash, still wont load MA, burnout 3 , return to castle wofrnstein, but load Deusex invisible war , after few more attemps, it's now displaying : contact support again. I think the Xbox had its time

i thought so as well, the philips DVD drive sound dodgy in the past when I try to load some discs in( the one it didn't like).
I think i'll send it back to M$ give it a try.
I had a controller replaced FOC a couple of weeks by them( fractured cable)

That's strange, If it's still under warranty, i'd clean it up and swap it over, too much messing around IMHO

You will only have the same drives as a "virgin box", you will have C,E, X,Y,Z IIRC (not sure about x,y,z but as you can't change them it shouldn't matter)
I'd delete the mechassault save though

all files hv restored last night , all saved games deleted, there ara a save for 'live update' & ' audio' shall I delete those as well?
I noticed there are quite a few drives in the Xbox when I FTP,i think there is a D drive & F drive (cant FTP now) will it create more drives when I did the modding ?
they are coming to pickup the xbox within 5 days, just want to make sure everything in order b4 it goes back

nope, D is dvdrom and i think f is another resource, but you can have a usable f drive when you format.

No, that's fine as it is
the d: drive is your dvd rom and the F: drive depends on the xbox

Hi all, got my xbox back today, they've replaced:
DVD drive-still a philips drive
Hard disc
Mobo'
thx again for everyone helping me to restored the xbox.
@PCA : before FTP the softmod pack over, as Spud had said, the XBMC is quite out of date, can you suggest a new one to replace it? there are many of them around the net, but which one? or are you going to do a new pack
