Hmm, i've seen up to episode 5. 7 will be airing tonight i think and i'll be downloading 7 tomorrow. Pretty nice but nothing, and i repeat NOTHING, spectacular. Typically American if you ask me, pretty stereotypical (and stupid) characters, simple plot and dialogue and very easy to watch. Not boring though.
All in all nice for the spare 40 minutes every now and then.
And you're right about the E.T. element. Its there.

[EDIT] And for the plot: it's about some kind of sea creature that suddenly starts appearing in the sea, some scientists investigate and a kid gets an egg en brings it home, egg hatches and kid hides creature for incredibly stupid parents. In the meantime, the (hot) scientist that saw the creature gets fired and starts investigate herself together with some guy who's brother got killed by one of the creatures while diving.
