A psychopath cuts a bloody swath across Nevada in this gruesome horror
story from Nick Palumbo. The Photographer is a nameless
German fashion illustrator with an ugly past and a profoundly violent
nature. Working out of Las Vegas, The Photographer is a vicious serial
     killer who attacks without discrimination.

The Photographer periodically dates a woman named Charlott, who has a
younger sister named Jade, but prefers to devote his spare time to
'taking care' of Sin City's riffraff. Jade senses that there's something
evil about her sister's boyfriend, and when Charlotte disappears,
Jade begins playing amateur detective, unaware of just how dangerous
     her quarry truly is.

Thanks SRT, and tons of sweet-smelling, royalty-free love from this fan of yours :D

Is this uncut and all that? :P

You got to love the Village Voice review:

Quote:
Depraved, disgusting, misogynistic, ugly, and interminable, Murder-Set-Pieces is the lowest form of cinematic life, a movie so utterly degenerate it makes you wish that indie filmmakers had to prove a basic standard of decency in order to buy a camera. Nothing more than a succession of fake, snuff-like executions perpetrated by a hulking Nazi serial killer, it's too shoddily assembled to qualify as narrative and too conceptually bankrupt to count as avant-garde. The Photographer (Sven Garrett) begins with simple slashings and graduates to more exotic methods of torturing and murdering women, sawing into victims' skulls, giving himself a blowjob with a severed head, and ultimately eviscerating little girls. The gore is an end in and of itself?director Nick Palumbo can't be bothered with such primal sensations as surprise, suspense, and fright. (He does, however, orchestrate each bloodletting with as much glee as his fascist antihero.) Nor is the movie a Peeping Tom-style investigation into the nature of on-screen killing. It's a pretentious exercise in divorcing emotion from shock?in showing the most upsetting imagery possible while pretending it's no big deal. (Most disingenuously, Palumbo interpolates footage of the twin towers falling to rationalize the killing spree.) Of course, having made a movie as deliberately abrasive as Murder-Set-Pieces, Palumbo no doubt expects to be called a sadist and a pervert. Neither would be so bad?if he weren't also a hopeless amateur.

Otoh, Film Threat's Heidi Martinuzzi writes:

Quote:
Usually films of this caliber violence are hack jobs or wannabe snuff films with no real message, characters, or goals other than to kill naked whores in front of a camera. ?Murder-Set-Pieces? is so much more violent and so much better than anything I?ve seen before in the genre. I cannot stress enough how shocking and unsettling ?Murder-Set-Pieces? is, and how terribly moved I was, in a terrible way. Violence has been popular subject matter for indie films in the past year. Recently, theatrical shockers like High Tension and Saw have practically hit the threshold of the level of violence audiences will stomach. Indie films like ?August Underground?s Mordum? have been so intent on showing bloodshed and gore that they lack any substance and, therefore, carry little credit in the festival circuit, or among other filmmakers. That?s why ?Murder-Set-Pieces? is about to blow everyone?s minds. It?s incredibly good. It?s well made. It?s directed impeccably, and it?s definitely, no holds barred, the most brutal and graphic film I?ve ever seen (that includes porn and all horror films. I know I?m a girl, but that still means something).

the village voice review posted above is dead on. i actually came here to write the same thing about this retarded ass waste of time.

Heidi Martinuzzi is a fokkin idiot.

"Hey! lets take this scene (where our nazi porn star nails a naked girls arm into a chair while she shits in a bucket before watching him put a pig mask on a different naked girl whiel hanging her upside down from the ceiling) and just as we finish, we'll cut straight to a scene of two 13 year old girls having a conversation while a toddler girl runs around in the background! Brilliant!"

The filmmakers of this film should all be forced to watch this movie on repeat for weeks until they starve to death. And also the actors who read the script and agreed to be in the movie, if their is room in this cell, where they will all be tied to spiked chairs.

There is the new idea for the sequel, run with it.

Thanks alot for this STR. I passed on the screener a few months back to wait for a proper release. I was a bit disappointed with Nutbag (and I have no clue if I've seen anything else from Nick Palumbo) but I'm still anxious to watch this because of all the buzz surrounding it (most of which was probably generated by Palumbo himself to push this film  ).

thanks for this its about time the screener was killing me with the sound. All of you should really support this guy if you can he's having to distribute it himself since no one else would and the people who originally signed on to distribute it tried to fuck Nick over. Give a download and if you like it buy it...uncut of course...you can get it off of the official Fright Flix website.

ha, im sorry, i thought Nick was the one trying to fuck audiences over by tricking them into buying/watching this heaping pile of rotten dead baby intestines.

i hope Nick is involved in a grizzly accident where all of his limbs are severed and he survives only to work in the post office as an envelope licker for the rest of his life.

Judging by the faked reviews on imdb, it looks like Nick Palumbo is the one doing the "fucking over".

I've never understood why people involved in (low budget) films do this, it makes them (and by association, the film) look amaturish and stupid when there are like 8 reviews, all positive and by people who have only posted the review for ONE film

Who do they think they're fooling??

The original story was that the distributor was going to release a heavily cut version against the wishes of Palumbo, so he risked all to put out his own uncut version ...blah blah... original vision ... blah ...blah don't buy it in stores ... blah blah ... only buy from Frightflix - it's the only uncut version available.

Anyone seen the supposed 'cut' version in mainstream stores?

No? Probably because the story is bullshit.

Probably because this movie has been subject to the most insane amount of hype and cynical marketing, by carefully placed plants all over the internet. To be honest, I enjoyed the movie as a solid slasher flick that takes the genre to the next level. Palumbo should've had faith in his movie and not gone for the rabid, underhand marketing campaign which has resulted in non-fans of the movie being vehemently opposed to it (Fear Itself  ).
