Nothing new here at all, but very nice movie. Could have used a little nudity though. :P

I agree! Good gory violence though. Not very original, and the ending... Glad to see 2005 ending with some cool flicks!

Thanks a lot! The standard storyline, but, surprisingly, resulting in a nice movie... :wacky:

A chilling, factually-based, story of three road-trippers in remote Australia who are plunged into danger when they accept help from a friendly local

Does anyone note the lie in this description?

"Factually-based" my hairy arsehole... making out to be based on fact and on the lead males word, yeah....

What's 'funniest' is that the vast majority of the ending takes place with him unconscious in a room (the only 'witness'/'murder suspect'), so its funny how they can claim its factually-based in any degree since the movie follows the girls at that point.... everything you see is complete bollocks and utter fabrication. Nice advertising hook they have there...

That minor slanderous advertising hook aside, it was a nice average movie, i rather enjoyed it.

not the fading phantom aussie scene at the end though :o

"Factually-based"

It is ... just like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was "based on a true story" Broadly inspired by the works of Ivan Milat and Bradley Murdoch.

Logical choices I guess. John Wayne Glover, for example, wouldn't make for a great movie since the gratuitous nudity potential of the "Granny Killer" victims would lack broad appeal.

The Snowtown murders ... now THAT would make for an excellent movie.

Actually I noticed it yesterday, when I was watching it. Only survivor and he was out all the time at that camp. So everything else must have been made up.

That's like Deep Water though, the only witnesses to the incident died, so everything bar the fact that they didn't get picked up is speculation

yeah so then its not factually-based. Its adapted from real people or an event but its 100% bullshit despite it. If wolf creek is factually based, so is harry potter. Nearly every piece of fiction has some grounding to reality in the same degree (ie a character inspired by, etc.).

Its just annoying that they use it as a selling point, when its ludicrous bollocks  There'll be people now that think this actually happened in the slightest. Of course they'd have to be stupid enough to think it is, but that's besides the point

Uhm.. just finished watching this, somewhat boring, that 50mn long intro was unnecessary as it didn't add anything to the story. But yeah it has some nice scenes.

u know i've read completely the opposite somewhere, that the end was stupid and it would have made a better indie movie continuing on in the style of the beginning.

Obviously changes depending on what your looking for.

Latest Rue Morgue has a nice article about Wolf Creek including an interview with the writer/director. Worth a read.

Just watched it... not bad after the boring beginning. That "head on a stick" was new to me.

I think I would have liked it better if the whole plot had shed a little more light about the relationship of the three backpackers.
And given that - an ending which would leave the possibiliy, that the guy went nuts (from jealousy or something) - killed both and made the whole story up.
You know, a decent schizo twist, where the only survivor is in fact the killer... :P
Guess I've watched too many of those schizo movies lately...

The boring beginning ruined it for me. 45 minutes of boredom. No tension, no character developement. What was the point of the very first scene being him buying the car? Why? I wanted to like it, by the end, but it was just too little leading up to it. And, let's face it, guns are not scary in a horror movie.
