From Doom 3 i could see similarities. They look the most accurate in the FPS bit at the end, but i'm not concerned about the accuracy, i'm more concerned about them looking far better in the game and not like big turds.
but i mean if you look at the game:

So they'd obviously at least played the games, which means they consciously set out to make it crap.
