Encounter of a collaborate mystery and a delicate drama. A man is thrown into a mysterious situation without knowing why. What happened to him? He's already lost his memory in brain surgery following a car accident. He pieces together his broken memory and steps closer to the truth. What Spider Forest gives to the audience isn't only mystery, but intense feelings of characters changing as complicated evens unfold. Keeping a delicate balance between collaborated events and intense human feelings, the film strikes the right chord of the audiences' senses that so-called well-made films such as Memories of Murder and Old Boy did. In 2004, the Korean audience will witness the arrival of a new type of thriller that is both mysterious and sensitive.
i think his 1st wife is really important, because he got the film from the camera .. problem is here, who sent this to him? ...
1st - they showed him in the hospital the picture.. so he's memory came back
2nd - on the photo-film is one picture.. from the spider forrest... his wife was also in this house with.... his boss ...
...this explains, why he killed the boss
***** hmm this movie was really complicated and i'm still trying to figure out a lot of stuff, i wish i could watch it with the directors comments anyway it really reminded me a lot of the french movie Haute Tension, which has a similar synopsis (but isnt that complicated)
***** i was thinking a lot about this movie today on my way home from work, and i think what is most believable is that after killing the two persons, he gets hit by a car and in the hospital while suffering from a heavy blow to the head, he tries to remember what happened exactly that night. So most of what we get to see of Kang Min outside of the hospital is him imagining this (his mind is screwed up and he starts to mix his childhood memories of the forest with the murder that occured there), in the end he sees himself killing the two persons (this is when he remembers what happened, basically what his mind had been trying to tell him all along (Kang Min hearing himself on the phone, the photos he send to himself). So everything is fiction up until the end, where Kang Min is sitting in front of the window in the hospital. Now some things i still dont understand: if its all fiction, what about the detective, was he real? Kang Min told the detective he saw spiders in the directors mouth, so he must have been there weeks after killing them (unles the detective wasnt real and kang mins screwed up mind which believed the forest was haunted with spirit spiders made this up aswell). Also what i would like to know is why Kang Min went to the forest the night his girlfriend and the director were also there, i have no clue as to why this is. So thats what I came up with, much like Haute Tension it seems to be a story told by a messed up mind in which we are not sure as to what is real and what is fiction
