Seems B2R is actually a scene group, some of their releases have appeared on nforce.nl

Not this one though.

solution is over the page, make the retagger look like an idiot by doing this:
Image

Okay the filename still changes but you get to have a laugh at the utter moronic tools that have attempted to claim it

Anyone know of any discussions of a file having a local name, and also a ed2k network name, which may prevent a lot of renaming of files?

how do you mean?

If you mean discussing which convention, i don't have one at hand but I've mentioned time and time again its a smart move to use TDX guidelines,
Movie.Title.YEAR.Details.SOURCE.CODEC-TAG.avi

Don't include characters that aren't standard alphanumeric:
[ (, =, #, etc. will all be stripped, people don't want it in their filenames by and large.

Always include source and year, some people don't and that means people have to rename to add the year, and while they are at it, they might as well strip out ripper tags. You've got to put yourself in the mindset of a lazy retard, if they don't need to rename the file to strip/add crap, then they are less likely to remove tags.

But there's always going to be idiots that rename. Take the phantasm infect rip, some people have renamed it to phantasm (1979).avi which is pretty stupid (source, etc?) and even worse phantasm.avi which is really stupid if you ask me.

There's nothing you can do against overwhelming stupidity, its still going to get tagged... same way George W. Bush got elected.

Rip stealers however, just add avi header details. Unfortunately idiots might still and steal it but they are either forced to change the hash (which is unfortunate) or are shown up for the lame ass losers they are, like the born2rip losers.

More like an mp3 tag. A local name which can be anything, and an ed2k name which would only be visible on the network/in an ed2k client.

As most people should, I agree with the above though, which is mostly a result of ignorance.

don't think that works, when i do a search i can only see length, bitrate and codec, the other columns are blank and i can't search via them, only filenames.

I imagine its even more restrictive on other clients (mldonkey, etc.) that use the entwork.

You gotta keep the tags you want to spread with by and large.

I'm guessing you mean so you can rename your files locally, but have it publically keep the files intact? or something to that end? Why not just wait until your taking it out of your shares, then rename it?

Not just for myself, but for the network as a whole. I rename files in a way which works best for me when I store them, and keep a .txt file gspot export with the original ed2k link pasted in, which is stored with the file. If I want to reshare, I copy the name out of ed2k link and rename the file back to its orignial name, and I can also compare the hash once pulled off a disc.

If the emule client was set-up to show both the local file name (client specific) and the ed2k name (a tag of some sorts) with the ed2k name being the searched for and displayed name. Just sounds like a good idea. Implementing it is another thing, and I'm no programmer. A thought only.

Yeah, that's the idea, but wanted to run it past everyone here, and get some feedback.

i don't think the people who are commiting the crime care, so i'm not sure they'd use it... i really wish they would though so you might as well try.

Make sure you mention its because you want to manage local filenames but keep the original global filename :)

Looks like T3 are at it as well

http://tracker.zaerc.com/torrents-details.php?id=5861

The hash is different from the ed2k but the filesize is the same, presumably BT uses a different hash algorithm, the file should be called

ed2k: Bloodrage.1979.VHSrip.RoTTeN.avi  [699.72 Mb] [Stats]

 :matrix:

There's even two dots between VHSRip and avi where the RoTTeN tag has obviously been removed.

IMO this is typical of BT uploaders, brought up (in the most part) by "keep a good ratio or be publicly flogged" mentality of many closed trackers.

This, in turn, leads to poor quality rips, made with one-click goober tools like Dr Divx, and uploaded in a vain attempt to keep a good ratio. If they grab files from elsewhere, it seems a common problem that they strip the tags and in some (thankfully rare) cases, retag as their own.

TBH, tracker 3 is very good for keeping filetags intact but there'll always be newbies who want to ingratiate themselves with the community.

Yes, I just pointed that out in a PM to Rotten myself. If you retagging a rip, at least you can do it properly. :moon:

I'm assuming it's just the one person on T3, the same lowlife crawled out from under some hole and posted this.

No rippers tags, but correctly tagged for this site as Expose VCDrip HHAH.avi and posted by Iconoclast back in the day.

This idiot also gets really offensive when it gets pointed out to him.
