has emailed me asking me to check for a virus or worm etc as my upstream usage has been excessive. They want to know if I have a virus scanner because my upstream usage has been in excess of 1 gig a day for 10 days solid. They reckon in the period between august 1 and september 9 I upped over 39 gig, they are probably right LOL

Then they have the cheek to tell me if I do not correct the problem they will disconnect me until I have cleaned my system, and I thought I paid for unlimited use 24/7 connection LOL Maybe I should come clean and inform them I help to share movies, or maybe not LOL

Hey Takyon, sounds bad :(

When I moved to NTL I had real problems with the connection. I could up but not download, and webpages took ages to appear

When i was on the fone to tech Support they were like

"hhhmmmm, your down stream is not working sir but your upstream is going 24/7 at 25k. may we ask why???"

Anyway it's a bit of a problem because emule IS ALWAYS uploading at a constant rate. So i figure they're gonna be sending me a letter eventually too :matrix:

They cant do shit, their own terms and conditions prohibit them from cutting me off for no reason, and I have informed them my system is clean and I am just sharing a few personal files with a few friends. Their own T&C's state I must be given a written warning first that my usage is causing a problem to other local users, which it aint and which they aint.

I am no longer under a contract to them, I could change provider at any time now, but unfortunately the only other company I could use are BT and they suck balls as far as service go.

One final note is that they cannot spy on what I am doing as this is against some laws, and even if they did it could not be used as evidence against me if the worst came to the worse.

So I came to the conclusion that they can get fucked, as far as I can tell this is just an automated message anyways, prolly sent when ya usage hits a certain level. i will just do what I did before and lay off for a bit after I have spread Trucks for a while.

What ISP are you with Takyon? I'm with Telewest - they haven't bothered me about bandwidth yet, just given me really shitty customer service.

Next time though, I was gonna try Bulldog so maybe you should check them out, maybe they can offer you something in your area?

Hiya fella, yeah I am with SmellyWest BlueBlunder too. As for shitty service, never needed tech support really, most of my problems are either self inflicted (I like to fiddle LOL) or resolve themselves fairly quick.

I thought Bulldog was only in London tho? May consider switching soon as other ISP's are starting to offer better priced services for 512K, not sure about their value with 1 meg and above tho.

I wouldn't worry about that Paul, I've been with NTL for 18 months up and downloading at max all day every day for ~550 days solid (which I reckon makes about 4Tb Downloaded and about 1Tb Uploaded), so if anyone's gonna get a letter it's me ;)

I'll let you know when I do :D

bulldog do all regions apart from 4/6mbit, which is limited to a few exchanges.

1mbit and 2mbit services are dirt cheap from bulldog, although I don't know what their service is like, I was planning to update to 1mbit earlier this year but didn't have enough money in the end. I'm considering getting 2mbit soon since my loan should cash in soon... 2days late :matrix:

Bulldog do a cool service where you can get 512kb/s during the working day and then it goes up to 2mb in the evening for a good price but not to sure where it's available.

And Telewest are BASTARDS - I had a massive argument with them after they cut my cable for about 3 weeks and then made barely any effort to sort me out. Installation took about 2 months too, the installation guys were totally retarded!!

Anyway won't moan for too long - I just hope the bastards don't get on to me!

With shoggy service provided by UK ISPs he more than entitled to moan. BT for example, do not even offer 1mbit to home users yet, and if you wanted their business package it was about ?145 a month, plus ?100+ connection, + equipment fees

:)
