And once again PC......sorry about the rant.......my apologies to you. And thank you again for the help past. You were the one who showed me how to search on here in the first place. No hard feelings, I hope :beerchug: Bip. :eatthis:

Thsts right ViSCeRaL, but like I said before (which you missed), the movie to that link is screwed up. Does not work properly, does not play right, does not function correctly. Got it? good. I've used the search function myself many times now (once it was pointed out to me). I did not know I had to put a disclaimer next to Shatter Dead in my top 10 saying the movie posted on here doesn't work.

If the movie is corrupt, like you say, then dropping a comment in that thread may help others in deciding whether to download it. Having said that, no-one else in that thread mentioned it, so maybe it is a problem only you have?

I didn't know I'd have to become defensive. Instead of bashing, maybe the proper reply would have been none at all, instead of being a smartass 3 times. And I did not say I'd been looking for links to movies for 10 years. You need to catch up on your reading skills. I said I had looked for some of these MOVIES for 10 years. You know, actually going to shops to see if I could BUY them. I hope this is sinking in, because I really don't like being a smartass. It seems to be your cup of tea though.

I wasn't bashing at all, I'm sorry if it came across that way. But as I mentioned, I won't spoon-feed so the best way to help people is to make them help themselves. If that makes me a smartass, so be it. But if people search first (that's people in general, not you in particular) rather than be subject to smartassery, surely that's a good thing? ;)

NP, I had a bit of a funny turn then :lol:Not sure why now really.

Still if it means more people using the search button then it might still do some good

I've calmed down now, normal service has been resumed.

1.Incredible Melting man (the link doesn't work for me, so a new rip would be great)
2.The Creeping flesh (another bad link, new rip possible?)
3.Tower of evil (ditto as above)
4.Alisons Birthday
5.The Chair
6.The Mummys Shroud (Can't remember whats up with this one, but I still need it)
7.The Magnetic Monster
8.Zombie Army
9.Zombie Cop
10.Buried Alive-1979

And....SHATTER DEAD....Ditto about bad link, not playing correctly etc. We've had movies on here that have been on here 7 or 8 different times. Why not have some new rips of some of these.

And if I had my way they'd all be at 700mb

Hope this list sheds a bit more light then the last :eatthis:

Because you seem to be the only one having problems with them? I know for a fact there's nothing wrong with The Incredible Melting Man. I verified it, posted it, and watched it all the way through with no troubles. I don't recall having problems with Shatter Dead, either. Try fixing your codecs before demanding new rips. If you don't configure your codecs and somebody makes a new rip for whatever reason it'll just turn out to be another "bad link" anyway

    yourself! Like I said we get 50 rips of a nightmare on Elm Street movie. And this is a 10 most wanted movies post, someone asked why I wanted ones that were already here. So I told them. I sure as hell know it wasn't you who asked. Please don't screw with me, my meds are missing :moon: :googley: :matrix:

:o :o

Evidently  All I did was say that if you reconfigured your codecs, you'd have 3 of those movies on your list available in working form right now along with the Shatter Dead so there wouldn't be any need for new rips

so, that sounds a lot more time consuming thatn someone doing a new rip. But if it is simple, I'd like to have you're input on how its done please. And I was serious......1 med being replaced with another I was on for 7 years......Its fucking hell coming down of a med taken for 7 years. But if you think you can help me with this codec problem, I'm all ears.....I'm not computer savvy...so you would be working a miracle, but I'm willing to try. :beerchug:

Nah I understand, I stopped taking my meds earlier this year (it's not a year-round problem) and just took them again for the first time recently and I actually came down harder after one use in a few months than I did coming off them altogether!

TBQH I'm not sure what exactly your problem is, but it probably can be solved simply by uninstalling and reinstalling the codecs, "reconfigure" was a bad choice of words. Try uninstalling all your codecs, and do a fresh install of all them using the Gknot codec pack. Should take no more than 5-15 minutes. :beerchug:

ok......this is going to sound really simple. All I do is download the movie using e-mule. When its done I use a program called Super DVD Ripper, and rip it to a CD-RW. Then I play it in my Phillips DVD player and record it to tape. 99% of the movies I rip to the CD-RW are fine. Some of the ones I want the most don't come out correctly. The voices don't match with the lips, ummmm....really wierd overcolorization, and sometimes.....just nothing....just blank black. I have no DVD burner, so thats why I burn to CD-RW. And as far as codecs, I have none. And I've never even heard of the Gknot codec pack. Think you've got yourself in too deep yet?....lol. Thanks, and still hope you can help me :beerchug:

Do you mean simple as in slow/stupid, or simple as in quick and easy? I'm afraid its the former and not the latter

What your doing is needlessly complicated, lossy and not what most people will likely be doing. Your wasting vast amounts of time and quality on re-encoding something, poorly, when other people are just burning the avis straight onto DVDr media (6+ movies as avi files straight onto a disc), and either playing on a tv vis pc-out, or increasingly popular on a Divx Standalone DVD player (such as philips, Kiss, LG, etc. Divx Players, custom PC media centers, or the best option, a modified xbox).

It all stems down to the fact that your taking a rip, then re-encoding it. There's not any problems with the source, its what your attempting to do to it that your having problems with, both in terms of the method and the pc software.

Erm, they are already rips. You mean your re-encoding from MPEG4 to MPEG2? That's not ripping, that's taking a rip and then futher re-encoding. The point is there's nothing at all wrong with the original rip, its your inability to correctly get that file re-encoded for any reason.

The problem is your doing encoding badly, not the person doing the rips, the people who did the rips have done them fine.

You need to read up on re-encoding better, i would suggest either using a better guide or a better method of watching that a shitty philips dvd player, the later being the most efficient, hassle free version.

Best thing you can do is stop doing that altogether since its rather ass backwards, slowly, irreversably f*cks up the download rip into shitty quality and means you loose the source; get a decent player (xbox is £60 with all the bangles and borbles needed to play anything you download without re-encoding [you just burn them as they are with nero in data / iso mode as you would any file]) and you don't need to re-encode ever, you just burn the avis directly as they are without any shitty super dvd shitter applications

Desyncronised audio, shit colours, etc ARE NOT PROBLEMS WITH THE SOURCE. They are problems you are introducing with messing with the rips post download. You don't have to do this if you have a better setup, as most people who use this site have. There's a whole host of standalones, or the all conquering xbox that can playback pretty much anything (within reason) without faffing around with a rip and re-encoding.

If you simply want the agro and don't want to change the setupd, then your problem is that Super DVD Ripper sucks balls. I would suggest using a better program to re-encode, for example, for best quality CCE + avisynth, and a DVD authoring program. There's quite literally hundreds of varyingly shitty applications for this task, varyingly shitty because you always get a shitty result if you re-encode. Its a lossy process. Go to:
http://www.dvdrhelp.com
and choose a less shitty method.

fierysky is right, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the existing rips, you just haven't got your shit together with your pc codecs and re-encoding applications :)

Well that's the backup literature if you can't be arsed doing the simple, easy thing of course, but there's a variety of guides ranging from rubbish one click apps to full blown quality whore (but still inferior to not re-encoding) setups like CCE + avisynth.

You say CD-RW though... your not doing a VCD/SVCD are you, because that's not just bad, that's horrendous quality  I'm assuming your meaning a DVD project.

http://www.vcdhelp.com if your using the dead xVCD format.

yep thats what I mean.......thats all I can do. I don't have a dvd burner, and can't afford one right now. Ok, I need your advice. I'm very dumb when it comes to this type of thing. When the movies have worked, they've been in good enough quality to make me happy. But what, in your opinion, would be the best program to get these movies onto my CD-RW. Cause I'm just going to put them in the Phillips and record them to VCR......again better than nothing. I'll need something simple enough for a 2 year old, because, like I said, I'm horrible with this stuff. And picking on me is fine, cause I can't afford anything better than what I have. So I guess I need a free downloadable program as well. Thanks for any help. :beerchug:

and p.s. I've played guitar for 30 years, and been in bands that played well enough to give me an extra grand or two a week back in the 80's, so we all have our area of expertise. Computers are yours, music is mine.
