hehe, im no ripper.
i would call me a capper. i started capping before edonkey was out. yep grandpappy monkey. not that i am particullarily good at it, ive just done a freakish amount of it.
i just cap'd all my own vhs tapes because i had too damn many. it started out as an actuall space issue, they took up more than a 12ft by 12ft room stacked in full crates. i own about 100dvds now, but mostly just have cds of my vhs tapes ive done for like the last 6+ or whatever years, so a lot are just old technolgy used,
hence-

'if its not monkeysmasher(tm) rip, then its not crap'

'ripped by monkeysmasher,
not a tag, but a warning!
PREVIEW first or bitch later'

'it's craptastic!'

or more recently-
'AUDIO_SUCKS_DONT_BOTHER.avi'

still, people still complain after i say things like 'i did this for 1 person who didnt care about quality, they just needed the file more than life itself'.

i dont release anything now or for quite a while, though i did tend to get people to give me friendslot and stuff on occasion. i never really tried to take advantage of anybody cause i had the movie they were looking for since 1982, but thinking back i should have because a lot of people are just greedy leeching bastards and i wouldnt mind being one too.

Agreed

Same goes, what would be interesting is how many people on HHAH rip and release, how many release and how many act as sharing resources, certainly with some releases they seem to be deleted by everyone as soon as they are finished, for all its faults, this rarely happens with files released @ SR.
DxaKrator wrote:

Obviously, I want the best possible quality as do we all, but as most (all?) of the films I rip and release are fairly mainstream this is pretty easy for me as the source is usually pretty good.

Bollocks, I'm faster, the reason there's no competition is cos you're all scared of losing ;)

That and the fact that we all release different stuff, in reality though, I'd lose any race, 'cos I'm lazy when it comes to ripping (look how long the Halloween series has taken (and I still haven't finished))

What PC_Arcade says

I rip & release to share my love of horror!!!

The only competition I feel is getting rare stuff out on the edonkey network and spread well!

My releases like Burning, Zombie Nosh & Contamination were very popular with HHAH/SR members.

And when it comes down to it, if you were all mates, who lived around the corner from me, we'd be round my house watching them the day the discs arrived anyway, or I'd lend them to you.

I've met loads of really great people through sharing files and don't regret putting the time/effort/bandwidth in

And tag wise it's just so that i can do the old "paul-scream22" search in emule and bask in a warm glow as I see all those avialabilty numbers increase!

Oi ! Part of that mud flew in my face....

No seriously ; if you want flicks STAY floated you need to post it also on a larger broader-taste forum ; this I learned the hard way...
(Forbidden world anyone? this was released over 6 months ago  - it just never stayed afloat)
HHAH members will, generally be more appreciative for your releases, but damn, have you seen the amount of flicks released the last few weeks ?
One just cannot keep sharing every movie downded last month for weeks.....at the end of the month you'd end up sharing 20 movies ! And IF you're lucky sending out a single chunk a day....What good would that do ?
I shuffle my reshares : I've downed ,for instance, 4 of bassline's gorie's....but at the moment I'm only sharing Sorrority H.M . 2 ; Next week I'll replace it with parasite....
Also currently resharing katya's Slumber party 2 and Jack frost 2.....

Best to first release it here , then after a few days dump it at fileheaven.....
For this board may have 300 registered users, only 200 are active and a 150 or so are only here for the links or the occasional request.....sharing is a word that does exist in their vocabulary...

And yeah....if to leech = seizing to share the moment you're finished then even one or two well known faces on this board qualify.....but just let them - just never give them a friend slot.....
For everyone, at least on occasion ,downs a movie that we seize sharing the day we get it.. for whatever reason it may be...valid or not....

I gotta agree with Mr Ohgod, there are just too many to keep em all shared, plus the fact I am limited for HDD space, and just as I decide to start keeping films on cdr my blasted drive goes tits up LOL My Ghoulies 3 rip is not gonna be released outside of this group, and will prolly be my only rip I ever do, I do not have the time or patience for ripping, I prefer to help ppl like Mr Bassline with the releasing, I often hit over 1.5 gig a day uploads. In the last 5 days I have upped almost 8 gig.

Please don't take that comment personally (this goes for ohgod etc too) - However with SR down and this being the only site that I release on (although anyone is welcome to spread my links to wherever they want (as long as my tag is kept in place). As long as I get to release here and SR I Don't care) releases don't stay spread for long and it's a PITA.

that really is the curse of anything that is non-mainstream I find, to keep a rip around for a long time, you need to have new ppl coming in to download it all the time, but well, that's hardly likely with the kind of stuff we share in here :(

BTW i actually find the tag to be EXTREMELY important, not cos i give a toss about credit or racing (I do give props to the rippers thou), but just to tell people what version of the movie it is ya know, one thing i LOVE about eMule is you KNOW EXCATLY what is the file that you are getting, with all the specs to what codec it use, no mistake or anything, just great. That's why i hate people rename the file name.

And btw i hate people who delete the movie as soon as they finish downloading, that's really annoying things.....at least keep it share for a day or two, to help to share that last chuck around faster.

personally i think if i want any movie i try to spread spread well i find it imperative to post over at Fileheaven (which is why i just posted Day of the dead over there) for example recently i powershared ohgods rip of Beyond Re-Animator (thanks for that  ) here and over at FH and that movie just flew like shit off a shovel in comparison to ghoulies 2 which as yet has only been posted here.

This is a small community and does kind of suffer from not getting majorly spread files but usually when ppl ask for reshares here ppl are generally very quick to help out so i don't see it as a major problem that ppl can't keep certain movies in there shared folder for a long period of time (i know i don't :P ) but they generally stay in for about a week :D

Yeah from a HHAH point of view a quick reshare request will be answered, but recently I have started to use 2 emules.

I use the blackhand mod as a dedicated powersharer with nothing queued for download and only my paul-scream22 tagged files (i.e. my own rips) on share.

And to this day there are still people getting Burning, Contamination etc and I'm sure they're not HHAH members (although I can't prove that).

So I always wonder where they find the links (searching, or given the link from some-one else etc), but if they don't know about HHAH, as soon as I take the file off share and it drys up these people will be left in the void :?

Anyway, they should be buying the DVD really :P

I usually pick a title or two to powershare if their are few sources and that will pretty much consume all my bandwidth, but other times I just leave it a free for all and see what ppl want. I often watch the queues too and if I see someone who needs only a chunk or two to complete something then I will add them to my friends list and give em a friend slot.

All my problems will be over soon tho, I am getting some new PC equipment for xmas and will have around 5 times the storage I have now in total, and that will be just for movies. And as soon as my ISP decide to offer more upstream I will be there too.

I very often get that 'you have incuficient space' message from emule, so I pretty much have to delete the files just after finishing it these days. but when I finish a file it's usually like a month after everyone else, so it's pretty well spread by then anyways.

These last couple of days I've done some ftp'ing and started up a new emule client with only 4 or 5 files downloading, and imediatly adding the files I've completed with ftp to my emule shared folder.

Currentrly sharing full files of kat's 'Serial Killer - Profiling' ep 1 & 2 of 'Hammer house' 'Faust Dir. Cut' 'Traces 3' 'Dead on Arrival'

As far as releasing on here goes, I do it cos I know the people here appreciate it and because(for the most part), they are the people that used to reply with messages of thanks on my SR thread.

What I normally do, is release it as an 'exclusive' here, share it for a week or until someone posts a 'completed & shared' message, then go and post it over at FH. Thing is, I'm lucky if I get 2 replies at FH, but the downloads seem to increase so there must be a lot of lurkers over there.

Shame about SR forum being as good as dead now, but of the last 4 or 5 releases I've updated my thread with over there, I've had fuck-all replies so I don't know if I'd continue to bother even if the forum was up.

Same here. I rotate the files I get. One week that one, next week some other. Though recently I've been putting out a lot of stuff so sharing those on priority as I'm the only complete source (FoF, Madhouse, HHoH etc...) :)

I think this is the one of very few places where people actually actively reshare releases. Can't say same thing about FH, SR or other forums (though those are a bit larger sites)... Even if I can't keep all releases shared all the time, I will always try to help on reshares =)
