Hey guys, Now with all the hype about the upcoming tarantino/rodriguez double feature Grindhouse ... I was wondering if you could put me in the right way to get into the mood of that kind of movie... I mean, I was never too much into exploitation (if thats what it is) , but I admit its mainly because I was ignorant about it, now I'm reading some stuff and really want to know what kind of feeling that movie will bring back to life... is it the b-horror movies from the old drive-ins? is it the low budget monster stuff, the exploitation movies full of "gore porn" ? the nudity/sex? what was the kinds of plots, or lack of plots they used ? hehe

Please folks, make me feel in a grindhouse theater and tell like a 5 or more movies list I could check (I'll look for rips, none will be avaiable for rent here in brazil I bet) for a good start thanks a lot

For specific film suggestions I'd say some of the films in my collection and Dxa's exploitation collection.

Basically movies that entertain with sleaze, not exactly drive-in features which are a different class. Grindhouse theaters of 42nd St Manhatten NYC are what its origin is, though many urban places existed worldwide.

Focused mostly on smutty sex plots for the most part. Horror was included very often, crime films and sex comedy as well.

Check out films here and on the bad-good forums from the years 1970-1985 and will run into many grindhouse classics.

One horror film I like is Nightmares in a Damaged Brain. Other films like Hardcore (w/ G.C. Scott) portray the sleazy counterculture associated with grindhouse.

Movies like this include lots of sex and even rape/murder. But a few take the cake, throwing together rape, murder, drugs, cannibalism, necrophilia, XXX sex scenes, and other atrocities. Very entertaining stuff if you're insane.

btw, deodato stuff will fit right? what about HG Lewis? and since I'm talking about him, his more famouse movies are easy to find like blood feast, 2000 maniacs (will download both right away) but what about she-devil n wheals, Just For The Hell Of It , blast-off girls etc? are those grindhouse?
