They all come from the communist period of my country. Fortunately I was too young then, so I don't remember them.

If you ever wandered why communism was so bad, just look at those posters

geeez! you think they're bad?

this one, for example, is also polish poster, and is, imo, absolutely great:

i think that the biggest thing about all those posters is that they're completely different from the american posters - which are rather dull. here is a lot of creativity, some cool ideas, nice associations, interesting designs.

Wow, somehow I missed this one. It is great, I admit! But the others? Most of them are totally amateurish drawings. Just look at "Gremlins", "Aliens" and "Raiders of the Lost Ark"...

Was it allowed in Poland to watch movies from the West ? They couldn't that do that for example in Soviet Union IIRC

Those are quite cool actually...kind like popart or something

well, there were many West movies played in theatres in former regime times. but when using 'many' i'm refering to meaning of this term in 'communist' understanding  for example 'Terminator' had its theatrical run and really quite a number of others [if you look at the posters in the link given in the first post, you'll get the idea]. of course only the films that got censors approval. there wasn't that big amount of western movies (american, english, etc.) as today, but strangely enough, communist party approved more of the artistic stuff and directors.
