I got some other rips that are undersized, so basicly it would fit eventually. |
But not everyone gets all your rips so they won't fit, if its a proper they could get any other 2 AFR, i for example have no interest in another copy of Friday the 13th Part 2 which is undersized by 20mb.
Now i can fit on one advanced filesized and then waste a lot of space, or i can re-encode a proper (which will result in sucky quality) or I can trim the credits and hope that's all that's needed.
You really should re-rip (before releasing) if its a nuke (oversizing is, undersizing technically isn't... but you really should re-encode again if its undersized too), otherwise your defeating the purpose of AFR altogether (avoid wasted space). You might as well just rip at a random number, its the same effect of not fitting onto dvdr.
Remember aim for 1490mb, if its over or under by more than 10mb, re-rip and if its over by more than 3mb, delete and re-rip. Resist the temptation to bung crap on just because there's space. That also defeats the purpose of AFR. Dubs especially, but even audio commentaries... just because they can be added, do they need to be?
Its free for you to do the rip, but for people that don't have the source, the only way to fix it is to download a proper or cut it up and change the hash so it can't be reshared. If its under by quite a significant number, and your using the latest xvid, the first thing that needs asking is whether your wasting your time doing AFR at all. Undersizing is an indication that it doesn't need to be so big. Second, you can force the issue by adjusting the bvop ratio to 1.40 and all your minimum quantizers to 1 (from 2), this will usually force the correct filesize (100% success doing that with my rips)
Hopefully trimming off all the credits will reduce the size by 20mb, but I hate loosing the credits, it soils the movie and more over, i can never reshare since the hash changes

If you follow sopranos on tv, that's the pinnacle of annoying subtitle trimming
Vobsubs are a problem, you should split these into seperate .idx/.rar for each lanuage, that was they won't be over 3mb and it fits on with ~1490mb rip.
I see your friday the 13th part 2 is undersized so if people are indeed getting that then i guess it might just fit. However, friday the 13th part 2 is a piece of shit movie, so its an awful big presumption to risk a 20mb oversized rip on, when reripping if it comes out big is completely free for you to do
I know there's the answer oh but its dvdr, you cna just put some 700mb rips on, but the point of AFR is to avoid wastage

You might as well stick to cd sizes.
Summary, undersizing isn't so bad. Oversizing is the devil. Re-encode in either case, it costs nothing and there's really no reason why you can't or shouldn't
ps. please don't interpret this as not being grateful, i'm just elaborating futher why oversizing is extremely bad. I'll take a look and see if its processable
