I've tried 2 or 3 online ones, including babelfish, but there not cutting the mustard 'cos there too literal.

I need a human translation, if someone would oblige.

I've typed it the same as it was on the letter i recieved from the Spanish police!, which is why some is in capitals.

Here we go:

prestar declaracion como PERJUDICADO sobre hechos objeto de la causa y ser informado

de las acciones y derechos que como tal perjudicado le asisten

ORDER REQUESTED BY:

FIRST INSTANCE COURT OF LAW AND INSTRUCTION NUMBER 3 OF VELEZ, MALAGA



ACCORDING TO THE RESOLUTION:
(Sententce or Dictamination given on the date) July 23rd 2006 due to the cause given above




REASON OF CITATION:
Declare as AFFECTED PART about the facts that caused and being informed about the actions and rights that assist you as the affeced part.

I went to Velez-Malaga in July (9th-20th) and stayed with the in-laws.

Two weeks after we got home they phoned up and said they had 2 letters for me and if i didn't appear before the court in Velez-Malaga on the 29th of August and the 5th September i will be liable to a £3000 fine and arrest!

I asked them to send me the letters and from what i can make out it relates to the hire car. One of the letters (above ) says 'Auto de 23 de julio de 2006' .

I wanted confirmation that the offense the police are on about was commited on that date, if it was i'm in the clear and there after the guy who rented the car after me.

Could you confirm that for me vtwin?

Also the letters don't say what the offense actually is.

I was a bit concerned about this until i got the letters, thought i'd never be going to Spain again!

I don't know if it's just legal speak but it still doesn't make much sense anyway!

Oh by the way, i am English, just have 'loads' of relatives that have moved out there to get away from the hell that Labour have created!

Auto is not about a car, is a resolution, when someone is sentenced to go to jail, they (formally) say "Auto de formal prision".

That's why i put it in parenthesis, so you'll understand that is not about a car

BTW... It seems (by what I read) that YOU ARE the affected part...

Surely you might get panlized if you dont go, as it is your obligation as a citizen to go and declare.

However, if you could send me a copy, I'll be more than glad to tell you what is going on with better detail (and if you're being the affected part or not)

The other letter said

Auto de 1 de agosto de 2006 dictado en la causa arriba indicada.

I thought that was the date of the offense?

Also further down it says:

LUGAR, DIA Y HORA DONDE DEBE COMPARECER:
En la sede de este Juzgado sito en C/ poeta Joaquin Lobato, el 29 DE AGOSTO DE 2.006 A LAS 10 HORAS.

I think this is the time i've got to appear at the court.

"Auto" is just the word they use for "resolution"

So that might be translated as:
"Resolution given (or dictated) on [DATE] for the cause stated (on top)"
"Auto de 1 de agosto de 2006 dictado en la causa arriba indicada. "



Nope... that's the day a resolution was given by a judge, you see.. in Spain (I guess) they are not like in England (on in the US) where you get an oral trial, instead, they have written trials.

This means that they give resolutions for each case, and when the ask you to go there is just to give your side of the story.
It seems that something happeded over there (in Spain) that affected you somehow. (or you affected someone somehow)

Well i can't understand what it was, i never had an accident and never got stopped by the police. Also i cant understand why there are 2 letters 6 days apart, and it still doesn't say what the offense is!

Maybe it was speeding cos i did that on the main route from Grenada to Murcia

But i thought if you were speeding in Spain you got a pull and an instant fine?

maybe it was speeding.. as you said, remember they've got cameras for fining
