Greetings to all !

OK, I know this is a question that comes so often that people must be tired to hear about it... but my download speed is so slow that it takes sometimes more than one month to get a particular film.

For exemple, I'm downloading at the present time Blood Castle (which I've found here) and the speed is between 1 and 4 ko. I've been using emule for years (at least 5) and I always read about people being able to download at incredible speed. How can this be ? I leave my computer running about 5 days a week 24 hours, I share about 80 differents files and my speed is always that low... Does anyone here have any suggestion on how I can improve that ? It's so frustrating to wait for weeks to get a file !

Thanks in advance for your help !

What version of emule are you using?

Try a few different mods (stullemule works well for me), find one which works fast for you, I've had problems with other mods giving me the sort of speeds you're getting.

Experment :)

I have a classic version of emule, 0.47a. I've tried once one of those hybrid version of emule (can't remember which), but didn't get much better speed. But on the other end, it's true that I didn't use it very long and went back after a couple of days to the regular version of emule.
I'm going to try to grab stullemule to see if it works better.

Cheers ! :D

Don't forget it all depends on how many sources there are for a file.

If you ask me it is very slow … maybe because I download movies with 10 or 12 sources, but movies with 150 sources are not better … 5-10 kbs is great … sometimes 50 kbs but only several minutes… but I am not complaining I have all time in the world… and 500 movies still to see in my colection 8)

Emule itself isn't, I pretty much always max out my connection.

If it's slow the you need to look at why it is :)

OK, the first question is :

Are you on a high or low ID and what port(s) have you set emule to use?

I'm running on port 88 TCP and 4672 UDP with pretty m,uch everything else set to default (after running the wizard)

Yeah, that's the ones :)

for me the default TCP port didn't work, port 88 TCP and see if it's any better.

You didn't say if you had a high ID or not?

try a different port for TCP. For example I use 50000.

Does the "Port Tester' give you positive results? "Happy eMule'ing"

Also have you just straight tested your internet connection? Like one of those 'speed tests'?

Aside from port fowarding your router, there should be no problem, as eMule is practically plug and play.

Windows firewall should automatically ask you to allow eMule access.

There are numerous threads like this on every eD2k forum.

No problem do this :
Click Options
Servers
then look in the my info box, ed2k should say "high ID" and kad should say "open"

What do they say (you may have to scroll down a bit for kad's info)
