True, but I'd argue romero hasn't made a decent movie at all for decades

Plus Cronenberg was in Night Breed and.... wait for it.... Jason X!

Dawn of the Dead is my favourite movie, i can see why people pick romero. But then Scanners, Dead Ringers, The Fly, The Brood, Rabid, Naked Lunch, eXistenz, The Dead Zone, Fast Company, Shivers and Videodrome are all stunning works of horror, either high 4/5 or 5/5s; whilst romero largely rides the wave of Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead, arguably Day of the Dead. Its a pretty profound artistic superiority of putting out consistantly higher quality movies, and we are talking about two great director's... it just doesn't click that despite that body of work, people still choose Romero for 3 movies.

I wish he'd go back to his roots, and drop the drama angle though too :)

@chadman, abandoning a fellow Canadian and major independant horror director? Have you no shame!?!?! hehe.

Don't forget the first 2 Creepshows, and Crazies or Bruiser or Martin!
Have to admit that the last (3rd) Creepshow was bad.. And Crazies isn't one of the best either but still a very entertaining movie.

So no, I don't pick Romero just for 3 movies!

Don't forget Spider btw.

Almost impossible and at the moment Romero isn't succeeding either. Can't speak for Cronenberg, now too little of all of his films.

And yes, 2 great director's both have made milestone movies.

I honestly wouldn't include those movies in the mix. Those are hardly 4 star movies, let alone 5 imo.

Enjoyable sure, but not really something I'd pick to back up a best director argument. Not them or Monkey Shines.

Spider isn't really a horror movie as such, then again I'm sure many people would count it as one.

Nope, its quite simply not good enough from what i remember. Romero hasn't made a solid 4/5 star movie since Day of the Dead... maybe Monkey Shines at a stretch.

Putting Bruiser up against a Cronenberg movie is quite literally taking the piss

oh and he only directed the first creepshow

Taking the piss is putting it a bit strong. ;)
Bruiser doesn't compare to The Fly or Videodrome, but sure it does compare to Dead Zone or eXistenz.

It's ofcourse all a matter of taste, but am a bit suprised that you'd call it that bad.

Didn't say it wasn't. But it isn't as good as The Fly.

lol, i think you've come up with a good form of torture rather than what you intended with the repeated Bruiser viewing comment

I know it's a bit futile, but there's no way I'm voting for Romero over Cronenberg
