Looking for a new ISP as my contract with Bulldog will be up for renewal shortly.
Need a reliable service, P2P friendly, and good speeds. LLU services like Be* aren't available in my area yet, so I'm limited to ADSL Max up to 8MB.
Or should I stick with Bulldog?

The buggers kept saying march-07 for activation right up until the 1st and now it just says its not activated Quote: | Or should I stick with Bulldog? |
if your not having any trouble with them, then why not? What i might suggest is look at the price of the product your on. Bulldog try and scam you and will continue to charge you at top tier, irrelevant of whether that product exists anymore. You may very well be paying £10-20 extra.

I'm on 2MB @ £30 a month, but I'm under a year's contract at that price (which finishes in a couple of months). The main reason for changing from Bulldog, is that they don't appear to offer ADSL Max 8MB on my line, even though it's capable.
Pipex (who owns Bulldog anyway), do offer ADSL Max @ £24.99/month (supposedly unlimited) which seems much better, but I don't know what they're like for P2P.

everything i've ever seen in regards to pipex have been overwhelmingly negative, they throttle like erm... there's a few jokes i can make here, but i don't think there's one that won't get me lynched so we can leave it with that
Pipex are a bad company.

I was recommended http://www.griffin.com by a friend who uses them and they're unrestricted, unfiltered and 1:1 contention ratio (it says 20:1 for ADSL max on their website, but one of the tech guys was telling him that they had reduced it again and again to 1:1).
The downside? £34.99+VAT per month.

Or maybe it is. ADSLguide forum users are complaining of getting warning letters when they pass 50GB in a month.

I found some details on my exchange, looks like March is back on the plates. The exchange says ADSL Max is enabled on 31st of March and it now says expected "March-07" on the be website
I'm gonna order it next month

Be* offers something different from ADSL Max though don't they? I thought they offered a LLU service to get those speeds.

LLU is just taking ownership of the management of the exchange, they still need to provide via a suitable technology. ADSL, ADSL2+ or ADSL Max. Be use ADSL Max don't they? Quote: | 03/08/2006 - Be Unlimited has set an enablement date of 31/03/2007 for the xyz exchange |
Quote: | ADSL Max enable date: 31 Mar 2006 |
edit: they use ADSL2+, must be enabling both at once, same shit

@ Bulldog, I cancelled my account in November and they STILL haven't been able to close the account correctly and keep producing idiotic bills (my last bill which was yesterday was for £0.82)

@bulldog, there service on the technical side was okay for me for the most part but the billing and customer support were pathetic. They produce a bill for £300 or something daft so i told them to go fuck themselves.
They kept phoning and i told them i wasn't paying. Then they sent me an invoice for 3p, which i ignored then they got the message.
Tools. Do not setup a direct debit with a known company of incompetants.

You can break free early, they've changed the T&C and your contract states that if they do you can leave with no penalty

I`d have to say NTL have always been okay with me, and that they`ve been much more stable than anyone`s ADSL that i know, but i did experience the 6pm-12am throttle thing for a week or two about 5 months ago but it`s been perfect since then, and having been with them for about three years a couple of weeks aint so bad.
another plus point is i have NEVER had any downtime or dissconection issues unlike the folk who i know on ADSL who sometimes get dropped connections several times a night.
**EDIT**
..and yeah spud`s right pipex blow goats, always have always will!

be just emailed me, got exchange activation on march 31st
So i'm going to pay for a second phone line activation and subscribe. Unfortunately, i need to wire it and deal with BT to get it activated before i can talk to be about getting a connection from them.
