All the appz i mentioned can be downloaded from emule --> jigle. I wouldn't bother with DVDshrink at all, clonedvd is faster than pinnacle and better quality than dvdshrink so is just better. CloneDVD also has decent support of stripping audio tracks, etc. and preserving menus, removing everything but the film, etc. The options are much clearer and is really quick. It used to be shitty it its first version but it's very good now.
DVDdecryptor comes with gknot or get it from the official website.
As for -/+, i find the + 100% useless and an unjustifiable format, as -r has worked in every player I've tried thus far. -r has better compatability with consoles and just as importantly, is much cheaper than +r. I also like pioneer 105, I think it's probably the best -r burner out atm. The model up (106) can burn dual format, but as I find + a crappy format, I'd say just buy the older cheaper model.
If you just want the drive for datastorage, don't bother with a dual format one and get a -r drive.

DVD+R is cheaper here in Sweden, but your DVD-R advocacy is the reason i bought a dual-format burner (NEC ND-1300A) to be on the safe side..
But even my old toshiba M1202 can read DVD+R media with no problems whatsoever, and that drive is at least 5-6 years old. Funny that it struggle to read the second layer on pressed discs, but have no problems with + discs

Try copy a game and play it on a ps2/xbox, most +r media
@ prayer, must live in opposite land, +r priced itself out of the market and is much harder to come across overhere, from this you can tell it's doing the worst of the 2
Blue laser should be out in about 2 years, I think that's like 16 layers recordable.

i had just read about blueray discs over at doom9,
i had heard about them years ago, and they seem to be getting nearer to being mass marketed, now that dvdwriters/discs are about what cdwriters/disc were when they were released. 26gigabytes per disc is what i had heard bluerays held. but like dvdwriters, and even cdwriters, the technology is being seriously fought from becoming mainstream by antipirate organizations. i can honestly say, putting 50 great quality dvdrips on a disc gives me a bit of a chubby.
say, prayeR, that was the most coherent post i had ever read from you. man, i hope i didnt make you do it, as you crack me up sometimes. anyway, i made you an avatar if you want it. i'll put in on a webspace once i find some.

Yeah In the UK i stick to dvd -r it's cheaper and more widely available!
Mentioning blue ray makes me do what homer does when he thinks about donuts
@PrayeR - No DVD-RAM is what the set top dvd recorders use that you can buy in hi-fi stores.
It's one of the first formats used on the market. But from a PC point of view it's obsolete!

DVD-r all the way
Although apparently DVD+r is the format which is "winning" the format war (!)
Out of Interest Paul, where are you getting DVD media from (when it's not the computer fair)?
Can anyone recommend anywhere for cheap + reliable service
I'm currently using bigbockets.co.uk

Cheap, and way more reliable than bigpockets :
http://www.svp.co.uk
You only find out how good a company is when there's a problem. Bigpockets don't give a shit once they've got your money, but svp are excellent.
I ordered 20 cheap blank dvd-r's from them and found 4 to be faulty. Quick e-mail and they had 4 replacements in the post and didn't even ask for the faulty ones back!
Currently recommend the 25 tub of Datawrite yellow top's at 15quid each!!

I've searched every where and surprising enough the cheapest place is my local PC shop (Called Quay Tech!)
Can get spindle of (choice/datawrite etc) 25 for ?17.99, which isn't bad.
But if SVP don't charge postage they get the cheap crown at ?15.

You've got a multi format burner so theres mo need to understand anything.
Just buy + or - discs, and you can copy the same no matter which ones you've got.
I couldn't tell you the difference and as of yet have had no probs using both!
Don't fret PrayeR, at the moment it's just a matter of choice. Spud likes -r and i bet there are people that say +r is better.
but in the end they both record the same content in the same way

If you're producing iso9660 or UDF data disks that's true, but there are some (very small) advantages to using dvd+ for DVD video disks.

1. i wish my DVD's were alive for long time
2. and when i will bring them to another DVD-ROM's - they were readable without any tricks and so on.

That's entering into personal preference territory, however DVD+ claims to be more compatible in DVD video players.
I use - for data though cos thay're cheaper

Right, well I'm learning here too
So +R is "more" compatible with video and -R is cheaper and "more" compatible with PC's.
So for me I burn alot of dvd9 discs so will try and stick to +R for that, but for my emules downloads will stick to the cheaper -R.
