Mine!

Thanks :beerchug:

Quote:
All in all, “Meatball Machine” is an endlessly entertaining, lighthearted, humanistic, splatterfest thrill ride version of “Tetsuo: The Iron Man” that foregoes that earlier film's black-tinged, brooding surrealism for a trashy, action-packed, blood-colored, low budget, absurdist, sci-fi kung-fu love story that's, most importantly, something that is so simple and so vital yet somehow so lacking in much of today's genre cinema. Fun. Dumb fun. “Meatball Machine” is somehow both sleazy and adorable, but more than anything it is fun. It's a super-gory hodgepodge tongue-in-cheek ultraviolent video game monster mash misfit movie with enough charm and silly sweetness to take down an alien-infested cyber-gladiator. In the end, this Machine is one damn tasty Meatball.

What is the original aspect ratio for this film? I saw a fullscreen release and this is 1.80:1 ... Does anyone know?

Yeah but I've seen a full screen version available as well so I wondered if it is WS of FS originally and it's been cropped to WS or FS. What to go for to get the most of the original picture. It could have been shot FS and cropped top and bottom for a WS release DVD

Nah, it's just that the fullscreen rip has an incorrect AR.

That's quite normal, it's called "open matte", see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_matte

The widescreen version is preferable for such a case, this is the intended ratio and is correctly framed. The cropped parts of the image are unnecessary.

Although seeing as how this is a recent movie, maybe not. Like junkboy says, the 1.33 rip could just have the aspect ratio wrong.

I knew what open matte was but I didn't know that they released a lot of fullscreen films that way instead of P&S (Pan & Scan). Reading that stuff on wiki makes me confused about newer films. I just bought Silent Hill and accidentally got the Full Screen version. But it doesn't say if it's P&S or Open matte. I wonder if I could find out because if it's the open matte I can just crop it myself when watching it on the tv. But if it's th P&S I'm missing a great piece of the image :( :o

Well Silent Hill it seems is a 2.35 ratio movie, filmed in the Super 35 format which is similar to open matte in that extra information can be revealed when presented in a 1.33 ratio.

If you mean cropping it yourself by using the zoom function on your TV however, you'll get a 1.85 ratio image with some extra information at the bottom and maybe cut off some from the top. This is because Super 35 movies place the 2.35 area higher in the frame than an open matte movie would. See the top example on this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_35.
