T3CH now has a website where you can download the latest releases of his XBMC builds.

http://t3ch.xil.us/

Now that I use my xbox solely for media playback, is there any way to add a function to the Xenium Ice boot menu to go direct to XBMC (instead of going to the Evo-X dash/applications/xbmc every time?

I have an Executor2 but it should be similar to the Xenium???

The following worked for me:
http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/ind ... _Dashboard

The required files are in the "_tools" folder included with T3CH's builds.

Hmm, didn't work. The only thing I changed was installing it to the C: rather than E: (but I changed the cfg file to point to C: rather than E:).

Another problem I have had for a while now, is that XBMC refuses to play some files over the network. I have a folder with movie in it, and it'll refuse to play about 20% of them. When I select the movie in xbmc nothing happens. Other ones on the same folder play fine. They're all xvid avi's too. The same file(s) play fine if I burn them to DVD. :?

I've not experienced that, are you sure your network is stable? Check for collisions, your mtu settings for the network adapter and for any snags in the wire.

You might want to tweak the network cache settings too on xbmc.

Why would a 1.4GB Unseen rip cache fine though, and a 700MB rip not?

it could be preloading the audio, etc.
Depends about overheads, codecs, preloads, + actually the physical state of your network.

If it plays from one medium and not the other, it sounds incredibly like an inherant networking problem. Have you tried repacking the avi?

does anyone know the name of the type of screwdriver to remove the DVD drive from the xbox. I want to replace the fan, i've taken the hard drive tray out, but i can't take the DVD tray out because of the small screws at the front of the dvd tray.

I must have lost mine so need to buy another.

Right I've ventured into this. And got my xbox soft modded following PCAs help.

But I'm totally stuck on FTP'ing xbmc over.

I'm using a crappy BTHomeHub, the xbox is on the network, I can ping it, it shows as active in the router admin page but when I try to FTP it just times out.

Anyone using a BTHomeHub for there softmod or know ANY other way I can get the stuff on the xbox through the default ltools dash?

Really want to get this thing set up.

I googled for help but found nothing :(

are you on the grey dash then, linux essentially...

Check the ip allocated in the bottom right, should say 192.168.1.32 and the username and password will be xbox.

If your using a different range of ips, change your machine to 192.168.1.1 submask 255.255.255.0 on your pc. Failing that, do you have any twisted pair/cross over cable?

BTW, the pack is '1uped' by this one:

Thats the thread I'm trying to follow but stuck at the 1st part (FTP'ING!)

Yeah I'm on the grey dash :(

The IP is 192.168.0.3 & is connected to the homehub fine + I can ping it from my PC upstairs but FTP won't connect.

So the only way is to get a cross over cable + connect directly :(

Sucks :wacky:
