I don't want to be an ass but isn't the dvd widescreen? I remember the old rip being like 1.85:1 :oops:

Anyways if you want to redo the rip I can wait so it can even be proper high quality since it was moved, thanks a bunch for the effort

whoa, too bad it's from the only 4:3 one, since both anchor bay's and R4 releases are wide :/

I recently bought the box set and Prom Night does say 1.85:1 but I took this screen from the dvd

screen was taken using "keep original AR" and doesn't look like that when played on the pc and xbox

Well, I can't quite understand what you mean

but my comments are:

that screenshot you posted looks like a 1.85:1 stretched, meaning if it was a xvid release I'd say bad Aspect Ratio but I'd be cool with it since the xbox and any player can fix it, not the case with chilling rip wich comes from a cropped 1.33:1 source

So... I mean... rip it Dr. Phibes :twisted:

it's hard to tell from the screenshot, but the transfer looks ok, so the result xvid should be very acceptable

just be careful with that non-anamorphic aspect thing... make it a proper 1.85:1 or the closest without the long faces and it's perfect to me,

in gknot you check NTSC and anamorphic, and it will look more like:

By definition, anamorphic pretty much means widescreen encoded at 4:3.

So check those, crop, force film or ivtc and have a look at custom matrices and filters and your done

I'm having such a hard time trying to find a widescreen copy of this to buy that this rip might be a keeper for life, even if I have the fullscreen dvd

tho i hasten to add that i didnt pay that much, i got it for £14.99 in a sale,
in fact i'd be pissed if i had its just a flimsy card cover and only the trailer for each on all the dvds. but i'm a sucker for cheap boxsets :lol:

I just looked one of your other rips & it wasnt deinterlaced & your rip of this looks like its been filmed next to a brick wall which I guess is bad cropping?

No offense taken,,,This dvd was really difficult to rip...the dvd was remastered poorly,,,,and on the left side of the screen,,,every now and then it would be some kind of lining popping throught the movie,,,,i tried to get as much as i could of it,, sorry if its not satisfying,,but its great that the doc is working on it,,,
