article here

OMFG!!! check this vid out, Wii controls on the dreamcast like...7 years ago!!!

you can actually play Virtua Tennis, with the DC fishing rod, which has built in motion censors

and yet again this proves how far the DC was ahead of its time (you can also play Soul Calibur with the rod)

I'm gonna try it out now I finally found a fishing rod

:wacky:

Sega did shit, they stole that rod from the arcades... it will be some bankrupt company that made all this shit originally.

The only thing sega invented on the dreamcast was that shitty VDU memory card, that slot into the pad like on the n64.

Sonic is for kids anyway, ironically he was billed as the "mature mario":
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=180289
Remembering back to the launch of sonic i find that rather amusing

On a more serious note, why do people like sega so much the vast majority of their catalogue is utter, utter tripe? I've never understood it. Very poor arcadey gameplay for most of their games, imo the sole reason they flopped badly out of the hardware business was their ultra-shitty software, not their very competant hardware. Didn't have the money to buy development studios like sony and xbox, and didn't have the talent that nintendo had/has to get people to invest for their inhouse software. Their hardware was normally half decent though, that's for sure :)

If you search the american patents, nintendo has a motion controller registered back in the 80s  They got some crazy shit too, and a "phoneboy" (mobile phone + gameboy), most of which never materialised :)

Nintendo r0x0rz sega in this arguement though, they've systematically even invented or popularised in a major console:
dpad (i)
shoulder buttons (i)
analogue controls in 3d games (wtf sony?) (p)
rumble (p)

Gameplay:
Platformer (i)
Action Adventure (i)
Topdown RPG/Adventure (i/p)

Equal hardware 'innovation' (if it isn't as mass market appeal) and more importantly, software 'innovation'/polish; its the reason they are still around. I bet if nintendo made the dreamcast it wouldn't have been a flop, exactly the same hardware but different software would have made the difference.

Sega

Hardware:
VDU (i)

Software:
A retarded hedgehog (i)

Honestly, sega seem pretty limp these days and their cannon is shooting blanks :D. That's not to say the dreamcast was bad in any way (its 90% of penny arcade's material ), but sega are imo... they've been pretty shoddy for well over a decade.

Few good games though, Soul Calib, virtual fighter, collect underpants, ,...., profit. If you like arcade games anyway :wacky:

ps. all i got left is a game gear, the rest either crapped out, was never bought or was sold :(

by saying that, you can say that any console stole everything from the arcades

I know how you feel bout sega atm m8 so I knew I had this coming from you  , but there's always folks out there who still love their DC & I'm smply providing info

my point simply is: the DC was a good piece of hardware in its day & I must say (I just tried it out) the V-Tennis/rod combo is at least as accurate as its Wii counterpart, exept the extra difficulty factor that you actually have to steer your player across the field while you're swinging (wii tennis does that for you)

& now back to the DC for a test with Soul Calibur/rod :beerchug:

I love the DC hardware, i just hate the software :)

The wii pointer is old LED tracking technology, the tilt is slightly improved analogue accelerometers, the nunchuck is a gamecube analogue with a less accurate (more like the old tech in the rod) accelerometer. There's no new technology in the console, its all very old school. its all down to the software that they have once again, they made good use of oldhat technology in a new generation. Barring the dpad and the shoulder buttons, the rest of the innovations hardware wise i can think of is just updating old stuff and making a killer app software to go with it. Barring the virtual boy which was an unmitigated disaster

Lets face it though, nintendo always has better software.... check it out...

wait, okay there was the odd shit piece of software

Sega bass fishing made it to the uk. I've never played it but I had a load of friends who loved it, although I always yawn at fishing 8)

I'm gonna LOVE Megaman, for its utter stupidity. The costume designer has taken a close look to Tron and then thought of Vin Diesel. This is what came out...
