Wow. Sorry but I'm jumping in here, without having read any of the last 53 pages of this thread. Sure hope not I'm interrupting some great debate that is ongoing. I'll try and catch up on the fly.

Just wanted to say hello, formally. I've posted 3 (whoot!) film rips so far, about to post another, and hope to post more. I'd rather not go into technical details, but I aim to become a regular releaser soon. I like ALL kinds of horror movies, but I have a particular preference for old school, black and white films. My non-horror movie interests include non-hardcore sexploitation movies like 'Flesh Gordon', and pre-70s campy nudist flicks like 'Goldilocks and the Three Bares'. Rather than posting my preferences though, I'll be releasing movies I come across I think will be of interest to Dead Donkey members.

Any comments concerning quality and content of my releases are always welcomed and encouraged. I can't improve if no one says anything.

Any questions?

I have one concerning my avatar - Does anyone know what happened to it? It was an image cap of Bela Lugosi as Dracula. Not original enough? Can someone give me any pointers to creating a new one?

@gigantibyte

What program do you use for rips? Your rips also are a bit oversize, 850MB and 2x 900MB.
I know probably a good percentage of peeps have a DVD burner but there probably some still have just a cd burner, obviously there gonna struggle with a rip >703MB

@ johnathome: Presently using a Toshiba DVR, VideoRedo, and AutoGK. I've tried 700 MB files, and I find I don't get the same quality. How about 700 mb x 2 per release?

@ Mataesfola: Goldilocks and the Three Bares is available on emule and a few others, and one I ripped myself called Nature's Playmates (1962). Films of this kind (pre-70s) are extremely rare on emule. I've only ever found 5 of them, (and now 6 with my addition). IMDB reports around 30-40, with at least one of them being labeled as a "lost film".

No please no 700mb x 2. :D We live in a time where there are DVDs. They can take 4.35 GBytes. If you decide to do an AFR please create only one file. Having to switch CDs in the middle of a movie can be frustrating.

How many passes are you doing? I would have thought a 90min film from the '70's should be able to fit on 700mb with good quality.
People are different, i myself dont care about 2x700 mb files as my player just plays one after the other anyway if there burnt on a dvd.

To save going off topic with this thread maybe open one in the FAQ section. have you seen Badbugs Gknot thread over there?
